91 miata 1.6 turbo. Fuel pump problems

So when i turn my key to the on postion i dont hear my fuel pump engage. So i went to the diagnostics box jumped f/p to ground and it came on when i turned the car in the on position. What could be the problem

If you haven't modified any wiring or are using a PNP ECU its probably the fuel pump relay under the dash on the driver's side.
