i totally agree and have started this my self. i cant live without soda and burgers, but i can however cut back from my normal huge cup of soda and tripple stacker, to say a small cup of soda ( kids size, which is still huge btw..)and a smaller double cheese burger with some lettuce. and i have also started eating at subway.

Saturday was a long, rough day filled with work. And dammit I wanted a whopper. First fast food I'd had in 2 weeks, and considering I was eating it 1 or 2 times per day previously, it's a great start.

I get excersize at work, and I typically walk the dog every evening for 30 minutes. Can't ride a mntn bike or jog because it hurts my knee.

Cool exercise helps a lot. yeah I have an old Soccer injury that keeps me from jogging anymore. walking is about as much as i can get away with. some things about getting old sucks, the body falling apart is one of them.

I dont pledge that kind of thing, I just do it. if you dont remind yourself not to eat that stuff, youll start eating it every 2 weeks and then ever 10 days. and then oh a week isn't too short. maybe every 3 days. how about just once a day. that's not bad.

the best way to stay away from fast food-- dont live near fast food! go to the grocery store 3x a week if you have to. make sandwiches at home. just have stuff on hand and it makes it way easier.

yuck. i imagine that was the "last time i took the bike out on the street" thing you mentioned.

yeah, i have horrid knees as well, have had two scopes on my left to correct cartilage issues and related scoring of the underside of my kneecap, and various other sports-related twists, pulls, tears, etc... not fun.

bah. i'm always gonna love fast food. i guess to me it's not hard to not eat it often.

if you're that addicted, i guess you have to never touch the stuff. a life without a big mac is a life i don't want to live, however.... :-)

Why not just make the car lose as much weight as you gain. That could work too.

My girlfriend and I are going on Weightwatchers soon. Her sister has already lost 40lbs. (mind you, she started off like 260).

This is my third time trying to loose weight. First two times were "Body for life" exercise/diet combos that worked well and made me strong, but also when you have sports injuries its too easy to "take time off" to heal and end up f'ing it all up.

I'd like to go back to "body for life" at some point but I am up to 235 at 5'11". I'd like to bring that down to 215 before I start really pushing the workout stuff hard. Too much mass to move around, among other things... Hoping to get my GF to be my workout buddy - because I know from experience its easier to stay on a routine when someone is pushing you. (in an ideal world, I would have a personal trainer... but whatever)

Good luck Ben!

Btw, I have read that every 100lbs you take off the car is the equivalent of 7 free hp. It would be neat to have a miataturbo.net collective "race to 300hp" or something to keep us all motivated. (or would that be too gey?)
