The idea would be to invest a minimum of money and time.
There isn't much more you can take out of the car that would give any real weight benefit. The front cross piece that holds the radiator and sections of the frame probably weight only 5-8lb total. Behind the front wheels, there isn't much you can take out without messing with the rigidity of the car. It would take a decent amount of work to get any weight loss without sacrificing on how rigid it was.

This one was built with a cage that the A pillar bars went through the body where the base of the windshield was and not like if it had a windshield. I'll see if I can't find some more pictures.

I'm not afraid to cut if I have a clear (and good!) plan on how to add strength back with tubes, but it does seem that no matter how much you take out the thing will still be a lott heavier than a true tube frame and, worst of all, front heavy.

The real attraction for me is that a project like that has a chance of being finished. I mean, I *know* that if l started something like an Exocet it would never get finished.

Someone needs to do this minimalist treatmentto an XJR or some other R. Think of the weight savings when removing all the fancy bits (like fenders and glass and 3 steers worth of leather) and you'd still have a decently long wheelbase and 400 hp!

The newish ones (2004-2009) are made of aluminium, so bring your TIG!

Surprisingly it takes some effort to get the tires spinning. The entire engine covering and fenders weigh a total of 12 lbs, and the only thing forward of the engine is the IC and safety bar. The battery and radiator are where you would normally have a passenger. With a full tank of gas it is pretty close to balanced.

He normally takes FTD with the Beast any time he autocrosses it.

Exactly what I would expect from a 5.0 mustang owner.

Having owned at least 3 I tend to agree. I sold the last one and bought a NA and strangely, no one wanted to talk to me anymore.
