I traditionally maintain an offline VMs to use as a sandbox machine, as well as one with strong VPN (Private Internet Access) to use as a torrent box. I just re-built them under Oracle V-Box, using the same licensing / activation method which I've historically used for them.

No, I open questionable stuff in the sandbox.
The Torrent box exists because, for the purpose of self-protection, I route all of my bittorrent traffic through two layers of abstraction- it goes into PIA, and passes through TOR alogn the way. It pops out somewhere in Germany, and would be extremely difficult to trace through automated means.
The downside of this is that it imposes a huge penalty in network throughput, with astronomical ping times to north-american servers. I don't really care about this for bittorrent running in the background, but I don't want to deal with it for my regular internet use. Thus, I keep a separate OS running inside a V-Box which has 100% of its network traffic routed through this labyrinth, and I don't even have uTorrent loaded on my main OS, nor do I ever visit any torrent-related sites in any of my main browsers. The instance of Chrome running inside the bit-box, likewise, never accesses any sites by which I am personally identifiable. (Gmail, Outlook, the forums, etc.)
Speaking of which, Season 6 is already halfway over...
