Unrelated: I simply cannot wrap my brain around how, in a pre-computer era, people were able to create cutaway drawings of such convincing precision and detail as was commonplace in the 1980s. I've always been fascinated by cutaway drawings of complex mechanical things...

I must admit Madagascar exceeded my expectations...
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...09c87eab7a.jpg Aaand, they make killer pizza here... https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...bb8b854bf3.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...a1dc06635a.jpg I am happy as long as I can make a decent cup of tea. |

Or tea, frankly, because that's one of the few places on earth that wasn't a British colony. As usual, I'm greatly envious. |
that pizza looks legit.

I would not have expected good pizza in Madagascar.

After a day of shooting in a remote village, we drive back (for a couple hours) to the hotel and I make tea after dinner. I send a simple message to the crew: TEA. People come over, we all enjoy a cup or two, and life becomes a little more bearable. |
This is our current mode of transportation...
We are shooting an episode in a truly remote village on the east coast. The village is on a narrow strip of land with the Indian Ocean on one side, and an almost 500 mile long fresh water canal on the other. Takes us 1.5 hours in a rickety boat to get there. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...b8bbd5f05a.jpg |

That has got to make it difficult to get well drilling equipment.
Pictures of failed weld unrelated. |

Out for a nice morning drive today in the ZL1 and come across this...
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...e8ce7d6a_c.jpg Guy went off the road and caught his rear wheel on the guardrail, ripping the axle off, and breaking the driveshaft. I stopped and went up to check on him and he was trying to drive away with the transmission sounding like a blender full of ball bearings. He was obviously shitfaced. Called the cops and flagged traffic 'till they got there. Cop put him on a breath tester... well over double the limit at 0700 in the morning. Glad he didn't kill anyone. |
Rare convertible Geo Metro (?) spotted for sale
From where it was parked it looks like an employee vehicle. The body looked to be in good solid shape but it might have been sprayed with something like truck bed liner. The wing wasn't a total hack but not the best installation quality. The lift kit must have been to install the 18-20" rims, I'm guessing it came with 12-14" wheels.
From a distance the top looked to be in better shape than the OEM vinyl on my '01 Miata LS (tan) but with the age of the car it's likely been replaced at least once. It would have been even more amusing with knobby truck tires and a zombie apocalypse paint theme. I'm hoping the image shows. I've tried over and over again to upload as an attachment and as an inline picture...Is it broken again? |
