80/20 is the stuff professionals use.
We use the fancy extruded stuff when precision is required. Unistrut is great for quick-n-dirty stuff, like "I need to temporarily hang this camera off the roof," or "Here is a duct that I need to support." Sometimes you need 3M DP420 epoxy, sometimes gaffer tape is good enough. |
80/20 is outrageously expensive. real men cut and weld raw material to make things.
In fact when we get 80/20 and house to anodize we have to strip it because it comes in anodized already so we basically have to double process it if the end customer requires a different color, blue black purple red etc. Here's a picture of a 2000 gallon 316 stainless steel tank we just made. 1: Back in high school, when I had Martha Burkett in my bedroom, and things were going well, and then she wanted me to suck on her toes. And... I just couldn't. 2: The fact that I tend to be extremely conscious of where my hands are any time I'm on the subway / bus. Anyway, the camera from a few posts ago is up and making picture. Here's a full-wide shot of the north lawn, taken at around 6pm as the sun is setting: https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...d0d8212eb7.png Note the building with the red arrow pointing to it. That's the building where I used to live prior to the North Carolina incident. It's about 2.5 miles away, at Irving Park & Lakeshore. From the 53rd floor, I had a killer view. Really miss that place. Anyway, here it is at full zoom. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...476115d6c9.png Obviously lots of distortion due to atmospheric refraction, but still, that is a hell of an impressive lens for what is otherwise a fairly ordinary PTZ camera. F1.6 to F3.4, 32.13 mm to 642.5 mm (35 mm equivalent.) Panasonic AW-HR140, in case you care. |
Joe, you’re not tricking me...there you go blaming diffraction...I know this camera is really for your flat-earth experiment...

Made it to the west coast finally... (still in Madagascar) 5 car convoy, all loaded SUVs. Trip took 32 hours and 42 minutes. Made it in one piece with the exception of one spectacularly blown engine... |
Curious how many miles... ahem... kilometers that was?

That should give you an idea about the "road" conditions. Crawling over massive holes. Mud bogs. İdling behind cows on narrow bridges... We asked about driving to the desert, Locals told us it would take 4 days if we did not stop on the way.. |

I can honestly say that I've never wondered what Cpt. Beetlejuice's dick smells like.
This information is not useful to me. Unrelated, can't recall whether I posted this switcher porn: https://scontent-ort2-1.xx.fbcdn.net...2b&oe=5DD2B9E9 4 MEs. 8 DSKs and 4 DVEs per ME. 100 inputs, 60 outputs. Ross Acuity 4. The second one we've installed. I like this machine. |

A quick reminder to shield you brake parts from Turbo heat. This happened at MBTG. Quite fortunately the brakes failed in the paddock after the 20 min session. Reservoir melted and fluid caught fire. Not my car. DNM |
