One of the hardware guys back in the PR&E days, Larry Stanton, was the sort who suspected that the T&E specs were total bullshit, and as long as the solder holding the part to the board wasn't melting, you were fine.

Weirdly, his designs tended to be some of our most stable, except for that one time...
