I really really felt like I hiked across what is left of the bridge on the left in that photo when backpacking in Peru in 2011. That was a long time ago though so it probably wasn't even close to the same. So I went looking for pictures.
I couldn't find that bridge crossing (because it's 100% not that bridge), but I did find some pictures of a different sketchy bridge the I hiked across. And this is the random pictures thead so...
Don't need to be a structural engineer to know that balcony was not designed to hold that much weight. Based on the average bathtub size, how big that is......I'm guessing 500 gallons of water? At 8.34 lbs, that's north of 4000 lbs of weight.
Grew up in ND, about the only semi-interesting thing is Theodore Roosevelt National Park, but it's not worth the drive.
It proved to be worth the drive. Very much so.
Ditto the Badlands National Park in SD.
Would definitely do again.
I sat on that rock for a few hours. And the one before it. And the one after.
Funny thing, if you sit on a rock for long enough, people start coming up and asking you questions, as though you have some kind of sage wisdom to offer.
My only wisdom is this: don't just rush through a place, pausing to take a photo now and then. When the opportunity presents itself, stop and really sit on a rock for a while.
