Fight, flight, whatever. I'm just saying that if I am ever torn in half by a carnivorous animal twenty times my size, I expect that my reaction would simply be to say "fuck it" and then die. But that little bugger just doesn't quit.
And viperormiata, I get it. My point is that I've never been squeamish about horror / slasher / terror flicks, I can watch an antelope getting taken down by a croc on BBC's "Earth" and whatever NatGeo has to dish out. Hell, I've got a picture of my sister's lungs in a bowl, and it doesn't gross me out. But I've finally discovered the one thing that actually makes me feel just a tad queasy, and it's watching a mouse get ripped in half under water and then try to swim away with his guts flapping behind him. Fuck, I wish I could un-see that. :D |

I hate to be a party pooper, but the mouse isn't really "swimming" away. He's doing the same thing he would do if he was ripped apart in a cage, (flailing or convulsing), only he's floating upwards. Although it looks as if he's still trying, its really just happening on its own I guess you can say.
All my years working with fish and reptiles made me immune to that kind of scene. I guess I came to realize that its just how its done with these guys. They fucking tear their food apart, and their food usually happens to be something alive. Once I dropped a couple giant albino frogs into a monitor tank and I watched them get torn to pieces. I'm talking blood thrown all the fuck over the glass and limbs torn from the torso. For the record the frogs were already on the way out and would have died within a day if I left them be. It was time to feed the monitors, and this just seemed like the best idea. I wish that youtube was around back then. It would have given me a reason to post videos that people probably would have loved to watch. I had some of the coolest reptiles you can get in the store for weeks at a time with an unlimited supply of food at my disposal. Unfortunately I never had a bad ass turtle like that one though. |
