I am still on the original Nexus that was released back in 2011 or so. I am seriously considering checking out the Droid Turbo that comes out today. The biggest thing that I like about it is the huge *** battery.

If I hadn't broken the nexus that's what I'd still be doing, ATT prepaid because cheap. N4 because paid for heh

That's what I like about the nexus though, you don't really need to get into flashing anything with em. I had a S2 with touchwiz for a short while and went through all that, not really interested enough to keep up on it any more.

I like how clean they come out the box, and the fact that they generally get OTA well before sammy and the like catch up or even give up. For someone not wanting to DIY install roms, and then keep up on em, it's the way to go!

Edit: May I please purchase said N1, miss mine so much!

If I wanted a phone where I didnt have to flash Roms I'd buy an iPhone.

You're right, I'd call it the iphone of the android world. Generally top of the line OS, it's kept up with far better support, and it just works without a lot of retarded clutter or maintenance. As far as I've ever seen, it's the most supported android series of phones.

The biggest limiting factor for me is that I won't leave VWZ. I really like the Nexus5 or the OnePlusOne but they are not offered on VWZ so I won't get them. The only reason I stay with VWZ is that they have coverage like no one else. On my last trip to VA I had great cell signal, mostly 4g, over the whole trip. My girlfriend who is on T-mobile had signal when we were in major cities, but once we were out of those then she would have nothing.

Currently going on a week+ on the Note 4. Previously had the Galaxy S4. Huge(literally) upgrade. I love everything about the phone due to being on it more than my computer. The stylus is very handy for taking notes and making lists while in the bakery.

The only thing I hate is Touch Wiz. I've had my S4 rooted and on AOSP vanilla android the moment a ROM was made available for it and Touch Wiz is just horrible. I thought I could ignore it, and have themed the hell out of it with Nova Launcher, AOSP Keyboard, skins etc. etc. but it still bugs me.

I'm patiently waiting for an AOSP ROM to come out, and the phone is mostly perfect, but it is hard to go from stock to a Samsung themed ROM.

Part of me wants to return it and keep using my S4 until the 12th of November, when the Nexus 6 comes out.

Yeah thats why I really need to get off the the t-mobile network and use the att sim card with straight talk in my phone. It works on both networks, just isnt compatible with att's faster 4g, but I've never been somewhere covered by t-mo's 4g so I have no idea what I'm missing anyways. 3g is fine.

I wish you all the best on waiting for that AOSP ROM to come out, still hasn't happened for the Note 3. I've been waiting for the same thing since the launch of my Note 3. Next phone will be Nexus 6.

Slimrom has an AOSP based rom for all version of the note 3. Its not pure AOSP, its an even more stripped down version, pure and stable.

Ugh, really? Is that due to being on Verizon though? Sprint doesn't lock their bootloaders.

I'm still within the 14 day return period so I'm not too worried, especially since I bought it off contract.

Rooted Note II since the olden days.

I promised myself I'd never go above 5 inch phone but **** me if that's simply impossible for something made this year. I'm at 5.5" now and 5.2" seems pointless. Especially since the Droid TRUBO is fugly and crapped up with verizon crapware.

Which leaves the "why bother" Moto X and the Nexus 6.

But that's even bigger than my current phone.

I do wanna little taste of android L....

I had all the same thoughts when coming from my S4. The Note 4 took some serious getting used to. As much as I like the Nexus 6 from an AOSP perspective, it is even bigger then the N4!

As someone who hasn't had software based buttons, how hard was it for everyone switching from capacitive/physical Home/Menu/Back buttons?

I have an AT&T phone and have yet to see a non touchwiz based ROM. I'm no android guru but I still haven't seen anything that's AOSP based for my phone, including the one you mentioned.

You're should be the normal hlte version of the Note III IIRC, and all slimrom version are built from AOSP.

I went from an S4 to a Nexus 5, and barely noticed. I do prefer the buttons on the S4, but only slightly. The soft buttons of the nexus do take up some screen space, but I have really never noticed that much. I do miss the physical home button to wake the phone up, however. Side buttons are just not quite as convenient.

I switched to software buttons years ago with the galaxy nexus, and I've never looked back. Cleaner looking phone, more screen real estate in full screen mode, customizable software buttons. No reason to have hardware buttons anymore IMHO.

Contemplating picking up a Note 4 over a Nexus 6. I just don't know if I'll be able to deal with Touchwiz. Any good roms out for it? Cyanogenmod? Or maybe do we know if there will be a Google Play edition?

Not sure if it is even unlocked. Samsung doesn't have a good history with that.

Welcome to the light side. Wife and I ordered a pair of them when they were released over a year ago. They are the bees ****.
