Stock recovery only. I have SuperSU and ROM manager running as if the phone is rooted, but I can't reboot into recovery and load the ROMS. Can I export backup/restore points to a computer, wipe everything, start over with the root and CM9 or 10 install later?

Run update.zip from the stock recovery just like you did the first time you got cwm to work. I've had this happen before for some completely unknown reason, took like 3 tries to get cwm to take.

once clockwork is install you should be able to hold the volume up button down and power during boot to get to cwm if you can't then it's not installed correctly. either that or volume down and power. mine is volume down but im pretty sure yours is volume up.

Well, today was a bitch. I got CM9 installed, loved it, set it all up, then realized I left some data on my stock backup. I loaded that, saved the data to the SD, then attempted to load up the CM9 back-up and it would not boot. I had to clean everything off and could not find a CM9 Sprint ROM so I was forced to install CM10 Nightly. It is definitely daily-drivable but there are a couple problems and a few minor browser crashes. ROMmanager is not working so I'm not sure how to update when a new nightly is available without starting over. Any ideas?

it's pretty easy once youre rooted. i have folders on my mem card for cm 7, 9, and 10 when i want to flash to any of them i just hold my power button choose reboot and then choose have the option to do a recovery reboot. it then boots directly into clockwork mod i then choose to wipe data and cache. then i choose install from zip then choose the folder i want then install the rom i want... after thats done i then choose the gapps for that same rom ie gb needs gb apps ics needs ics apps... and install it. reboot and good to go.

Where can I find a link to the final CM9 Sprint i9300 release? Everything on the CM page is for the international phone.

This all depends on one thing...
How will I update to the newest release of CM10, and not go through setting-up this phone all over again?

Thanks for the help, I'm new at this ****.

Well ****. I guess I have to stick with this nightly CM10 deal. It's not bad, I can definitely daily drive it, but I'm not the type of person who should run beta-ROMs.

Did you find any more sort finalized roms based on the CM nightlies? Thats normally what I run, or stuff based on ASOP. I like certain dev's work, I think there is a Slim ICS and a Slim JB for your phone, you should check one of those out. Very clean.

Ordered a pre-owned Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 for $170 from Cowboom yesterday. Was very tempted by the Nexus 7, but the screen just feels slightly too small for a multimedia device. 7" is about right for an e-ink reader, but constricted for browsing or movies.

Now, will Samsung release ICS before my Tab arrives? It's been promised since April. Last estimate was "Mid-August".

Any links? I have a difficult time finding anything for the Sprint phones. CM10 looks great, but I don't really need all that stuff. I'd like to run a stripped down, JBROM for the most speed and longest battery life.

I also cannot seem to back-up any of this CM10 stuff which is really frustrating, but expected for an experimental ROM.

I wanted the RAM, better rear cam, and I need a front cam, so I bought the GS3.

The cool part about non-cell phone tablets if you get the newest ROM when it's finished, but it still gets dirtied-up with TouchWiz, which I thought had a few bugs that were annoying. I'd go ahead and root the thing and install a JB ROM if available. I like the look and feel of JB significantly more than ICS.

Yeah, Touchwiz is not my favorite, at least for phones. I'll see how it works for a tablet once they release ICS, and if it's still bad just go with CM10.

Here's the list of supported devices for slim ICS. Looks like the GS3 can get slim ICS. Supported Devices.

And it looks like there are plenty of other roms out for it. Sprint Galaxy S III Android Development - xda-developers

In the Slim link, notice the download screen does not list the i9300 and the "supported devices" link does not provide a network specific notation. I don't want to get stuck the way I did last time.

I tried the "high on android" and another last night, both had problems.

Yeah, looks like he took the ICS stuff off his site since he doesnt want to have to support it any more. I did check around to see if anyone was running it on the sprint sgs3 before I posted it. Well you've still got infinite choices on xda.

It looks like I'm just going to follow the CM10 nightlies and hope they never require a data-wipe on the updates.

The only real problems are:
haptic feedback won't turn off
Google search bar and voice don't work
random Chrome crashes, batter life could be better.

******* piece of ******* **** Sprint ICS needs to DIAF. Navigation doesn't work, can't find satellites. Can't upload photos, internet radio isn't working blah blah blah.

And battery life is TERRIBLE. Drained 25% yesterday searching for a ******* GPS satellite for 10 minutes yesterday.

Unacceptable. Going to throw this piece of **** through their window and tell them to give me another phone with 2.3 on it, because it WORKED.
