Hm, works for me and several of my friends at other campuses.
Maybe if you tell it you're a student instead of alumni.

Comcast can flag your ip address if you download something via bittorrent. Depends on what you're downloading and if the owner of the material is militant enough to go after you and contact Comcast.

PeerGuardian is your friend.
