Default Anyone go driving in the snow w/ their Miata?

We were hit with ~28" of snow b/w Friday night - Saturday afternoon. I was severely tempted, but thought better after seeing how big some of the pilings in the middle of the plowed roads still existed.

I had someone pick me up in an older Subaru and we had some fun while they were plowing some of the office buildings. We'd find a virgin parking lot and had fun in the snow. Saturday and Sunday still had some nice (if you're out looking for snow) roads that had that piled up mush and some packed snow.

Rappadan came over to watch the UFC Saturday night w/ his truck and apparently had some fun on the way back home. Silly guy!

Was out in the miata earlier in the week when it first started to snow... RS3=Terrifying and obviously should never be driven in the snow but.. make a little fun for parking lots. With sub 1 inch of snow. Than rolled around in my friends Subaru got stuck in about a 3 ft snow drift we couldnt barely even get our doors open. Then some mennonites pulled us out lol

28" of snow > 4" of ground clearance. We got stuck in a lifted diesel ram at one point on Saturday morning. Then again we were being idiots and ramming snow banks lol.

When we were driving we saw a brand new forester smashing 3ft snow drifts and sitting sideways in peoples yards not giving a fuckkk. Snow brings out some sick vehicles and basically there are no laws.

I did last year... A chunk of snow/ice ate my Garage Vary Lip in the process. Also, no traction at all.

I was on 66 in my prelude yesterday. I hit a patch of slush and the car lost complete traction. I just started strafing left towards the guardrail. Luckily I kept cool, let it coast and tried to steer it out and I was able to get traction and recover moments before I took out the side of the car.

I was really disturbed by the lack of treatment to 66. Some spots were completely clear while others had inches of slush and muck.

So I'll keep the miata under the tarp, thank you very much.

No miata cause driving it in this weather is dumb. I did however go pull some AWD drifts/doughnuts in a friends WRX in the lowes hardware parking lot... That was so much fun, I was really surprised how well that thing did in the snow! Sliding around all the lightpoles made me feel like a ken block wannabe lol

Haha! Indeed... I had the lip before the Touge Run was available unfortunately. Otherwise it might have survived...

I had an 05 the last time in snowed here in centex. Long story short, I ended up getting it sideways on a left hand turn and landing in the middle of oncoming traffic( no damage though thank god!).

I'm forced to drive my miata with 5year old bald T1R's in this crap. It's real fun until you actually have to get somewhere, then it gets very upsetting.

Last time it snowed here, I busted a perfect 360 right in front of a cop and he could do nothing about it. It made me happy.

Drove through 3 wisconsin winters with it, back when I had an open diff. I think the only truly scary time was when I put my RS-2s on too early and we had a freak blizzard the next day while I was at work. I had to try and stop going down a steep hill at which the bottm had two completely destroyed cars, a civic and a lincoln towncar (one couldn't stop while going downhill, slid right into the intersection at the bottom).

I've driven through snow deeper than the bottom of the car plenty of times. Its all about momentum. And yes I've also been ticketed for playing around in parking lots.

I thought parking lots were private. Or at least most are.
My miata with snow tires has been the best handling car in the snow I've ever had.
