No, but that is definitely something I want to get into.

Nice. Karting at a young age can lead to great talent once they get older.

Perfect example, if anyone follows the roundy-roundy racing, Trevor Bayne is doing pretty damn well for his age. Guess what he did from the age of 5-12? Karts! Different series as he got older but it obviously helped his transition from Legendcars to Hooters Pro Cup and etc.

edit: not trying to thread jack, please return back to topic

This honestly needs to be the sticky of our lives. So often I see friends who haven't left the house after 6pm in YEARS. While their marriage doesn't suck, it's definitely not what I have, and I've got it good. The problem is that after awhile, you forget about how critical mommy/daddy time is... and not just the bedroom time after the kids are asleep.

It really all boils down to your wife and how "not a psycho" she is. Like I said above, if she "nobody else will ever watch my kids by God" is like that, you're fucked.

Dare I say Sittercity? If you don't have a local teenage girl in the neighborhood, a lot of local college girls post on SC around here. The going rate is $10hr, there are typically lots of references.

I like HeatherL on the first page. When you find one you like, there is a big weight off your shoulders.

No, my wife isn't strict about who watches our son, and she doesn't have to be. My MIL lives with us and is always willing to watch him. We actually do get out a lot on our own so I got that covered. I just need to get her into a daily routine while I'm at work.

Your kid is at a good age to get into swimming (as in lessons, not just hanging at the pool) and since you're in FLA, even better. Great for safety and just having the kid aware of the water, plus there are swim classes where mom can take a break for a while while the kid is in the pool. My daughter was on the swim team at 5 years old and loves the pool now. If nothing else if the kid is good around water it's a place for mom to relax a bit while kiddo meets some other kids.

+1 A fantastic thing to learn. And if he has had lessons, there is always more to learn like better technique, new strokes, improved endurance, and lifesaving skills. You really can't be too young for water safety and swimming training.
And then you can graduate to gator wrestling when he turns five.

You may speak for the wife, but the founder of the official MT.Net **** sticky has not yet spoken for HeatherL.

Seriously though, I have seen this too though I am not married. Out of house time doing stuff is critical.

A 4 year old is pretty easy to take care of anyway. My dumbass baby-sat for one back in the day and he now has a much cooler vehicle than I do. So theres your proof right there. baby-sitter is the solution. Though if said siter has nudes floating around, maybe consider other options.

My wife stays home with our 3 year old and our new 3 month old, and tries not to go insane I guess. She likes to make friends with other ladies with kids and arrange play dates.

Everything's going to change for her when I go to Afghanistan later this summer.
