Default Bagram Airfield Afghanistan

Is there anyone on this forum that has been to or near Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan? My son is being deployed there next month. It is a very short deployment, but I would like to understand the area and conditions. He has been on several deployments to Iraq and Quatar, so it is not his first rodeo.
He maintains F-16s for the 177th Fw in Atlantic City. Thanks!

Bagram isn't a bad place to be. I didn't spend much time there, maybe 3 weeks total. There is a nice shopping area where you can buy electronics, food, and other things to make life not so bad. The chow halls are better than the ones stateside for the most part. Depending on what exactly he is doing, living conditions can range from a circus tent, to a nice metal conex that almost resembles normal living.

Don't pay any attention to FaeFlora, he's just like that because he struggles with being a closeted homosexual and not being able to building a car that doesn't blow up.

Pretty much what FRT said, Bagram is nice to visit, not a place I'd like to hang around for long (lots of brass walking around) and it's too big for its own good. But from a security standpoint (this is your son we're talking about), you have nothing to worry about. He's going to have as cushy a deployment to the 'Stan as can be had, I'm sure.

Me at Bagram a few months ago:

(squinty guy in ACUs stage right of the lady in black)

Now try to find me in this one, gogogo!

Thanks Guys, appreciate the input. Security at the base was our major concern.
And I think Fae is just pissed at the world because his car is one expensive *** IED.
