You spend more than you have...they want compensation for the "loan" they gave you instead of just denying your *** money...if that is this big of an issue I suggest you find another bank...A Credit Union maybe? They usually have pretty good interest rates as well.

Have a nice day.

or, they make an error in my account and its now worth 400 bucks?

tried complaining, this **** happened twice to me. the same ****. they refunded only half the first time, and now they wont refund anything. completely their fault!!! i had money in my account to cover it and they charged an overdraft!!

******* ********. i'm gonna take them to small claims court.

oh btw, i read somewhere that they are going to get rid of overdraft fees at some point... wish that point had been today.

If it was an error on there part, I suggest continuing to call back rationally talking to different people and their manager's until you find someone who speaks english and has an IQ of more than 6 and they will help you out. Calling and yelling and **** will get you nowhere.

i didnt do that either. they kept telling me that they cant do it because they already gave me courtesy refunds already, which is bullshit because somehow they fail to see that it is completely bank error. do they not offer refunds anymore or something? i never got that memo.

If its the banks fault i dont see why they wouldn't refund the money.

Wells Fargo has been amazing to me, they have even refunded me a few times for my overdraft fees when it WAS my fault.

bank of america gives you 5 days to pay off your overdrafted fee's. on the 2nd day they will send out a courtesy snail mail post card informing you also and if you signed up for the email alerts you would have been noticed the first day.

Overdraft fee's suck i know, ive have my share of them but with my old bank (U.S bank)

Try getting into the habit of checking your account online daily so **** like this doesn't happen.

I use a local credit union. They're fairly lenient. But I still hope that them getting rid of overdraft fees is true. I been hearing about it for a year already.

Oh man.... I feel my rant about banks coming on... must resist.... arrrrrgh!

I hate banks.

ATM's demonstrate why monopolies must be watched and occasionally bitch slapped. The ATM was the single greatest cost reduction in banking history. They were able to fire legions of tellers, and close expensive branches across the country.
And for this, they have jacked rates to $3 bucks to take out $20 out of your account.

And the costs of taking money out of an ATM are remarkably stable in a region. If one bank is charging $3, most will be charging $3. In any other business we'd be screaming about anti-competition price fixing. But not banks.

And don't even get me started about predatory loans and over draft fees.

I hate banks..

If it really is an error like you say I'd get them to print off a statement for you and take them to small claims like you said. Banks suck and there isnt anything you can do about it.

Edit: This thread makes the OP's user-name a tad bit ironic.

My bank ***** me with them. Of course it's my fault most of the time, but sometimes you can't help it when on a tight budget. What gets me is that they threaten to close my account when I get more than a few a year. I don't see why they should be concerned, they get fuckloads of free money out of me because they had to front me $5 that I overdrafted. I go over a few bucks, they charge me $35, and I pay them usually within the week. I need a new bank.

Can't be worse than my bank.

Everything I buy is with a debit card. DEBIT. When I signed up for the card one of their 'features' was automatic overdraft protection which never works. They claim if you try to buy something on debit that will charge your more than available funds it'll just deny the transaction. What happens instead?

Go $0.50 overdrawn and they charge you THIRTY DOLLARS!!! Then you have to call and pitch a bitch. They start new business day at 14:00cst, and even if you go over but deposit enough money to get back in black they still charge your ***.

**** banks. **** credit cards, especially.

I've had this one credit card since 1998 that honestly I haven't used in 5 or 6 years. Called the other month to close the account and was advised by the representative on the phone that closing the account might have an adverse affect on my credit rating (which I didn't believe) but told them I'd look into it. Never did get around to the research however. They send me a blank statement every month even though I haven't charged anything to it in years, but yesterday I receive an 'official' looking letter that I was 30 days behind on my balance which they kindly tacked a $35.00 late fee on. Typically I'll open those statements every 60 days and run them through the shredder but hadn't done so yet, so I went back and opened the Feb statement to see a late charge added to an $18.50 carried balance from Jan. Went back to the Jan statement to find a "ANNUAL FEE" of $18.50, then their $35.00 fee tacked onto that for a grand total of $53.50!!!

Of course its 17:30 at this time and their customer service department lists on the bill it closed at 16:30cst, but I called anyway. Gave the dude my account info to have him inform me of a past due, asking how I'd like to take care of it. Told him I wasn't paying it and knew nothing about it. He went on some sales pitch about how they sent out a letter in November of last year about changes to your account and giving you the opportunity to 'opt out' of the yearly fee (What the ****!? OPT OUT OF THEIR FEE????" and I hadn't done so, so they assumed I would be willing to pay it.

At this point I simply explained to him that I considered closing the account, decided to keep it open for a bit just in case something happened but now am going to close the account. Also pointed out that I fully planned on NOT paying the 53$ which he promptly offered to credit. He was going to put me on hold for a few minutes then just hung up on me. Called back and got another operator who I gave my account number to and before I could get another word out of my mouth SHE started in on me about this ******* letter they sent out.

I went off on her about charging customers 30% interest for carried balances and how absurd I thought it was they expected people to pay for the pleasure of getting assfucked by them each and every month, ontop of their 30%. Informed her I would be closing my account at this time when she interrupted me back into her lecture about the letter of change of account that was sent out..

What happened? She credited the charge then got off the phone with me quickly as possible, instead of closing the ******* account like I requested! Dirty bitch...

checking with overdraft to savings with overdraft to credit card = never having to call up and be their bitch.

also, local credit unions are more likely to not charge you assrape fees.

did you know some banks do this:

1. your balance is 100 dollars

2. you make a deposit at 8am for 100 dollars

3. you withdraw 101 dollars at 3pm

4. they overdraft you by 1 dollar at 3pm and clear the deposit at after that "by 5pm the same day".

they just made $35 off your *** on a technicality.

Was the deposit a check or cash? Cash is made available right away, and according to the Expedited Funds Availability Act (Reg CC), ALL US banks are required to make at least $100 available the next business day, dependent on the type of check/s deposited and your account status. Depending on your bank's turnover date, that $100 MUST be made available (federal law). If their turnover period is 4PM, and you withdrew at 3PM, what they did is legal. If the bank overdrafted you even though they were already on the next business day (say they turnover at 2PM and you withdraw at 3PM), well, they can't do that.

Note that before 20 years ago, this law wasn't passed and banks could really screw you over. 1 business day availability and 7 day full availability really is a pretty fast time considering before we didn't have the Automated Clearing House. yay technology!

What all of you need to do is open an account at my bank and refer me please.

Order of operations:

Open for business, process all withdraws from largest to smallest regardless of date, process all deposits from smallest to largest regardless of date, collect fees from n00bs with overdraft protection.
