The beast got broken into and vandalized! dirt bags!
Ill post up some pics when i get home. the miata got broken into the night before last, top got slashed (guess if i would have left my doors unlocked that wouldnt of happened ), they keyed my paint with a screw driver or something, and snapped open my glove box. all of this was pointless cause i dont keep anything of value in the car. theres no locking a convertible!
just a huge hassle and a set back for the turbo project!
total amount of damages, which include new paint, new top and new glove box............... 4500!!! when the adjuster told me that i was in shock! i convinced my ins. company to label is as repairable though, since its only external damage. plus my deductible is only 100 bucks so all is well.
several other cars in the apt. complex were hit with this simple smash n grab break in, including another miata
now... i cant decide whether i should pick up a hardtop and risk keeping the car there, or pick up another beater car (1500 max) and leaving my miata at Mommy and daddy's garage for safe keeping..

I feel your pain, Bro. Only instead of breaking into the car, it was just vandalized. Know who did it, but can't prove it and of course the police don't really give a ****.
Slashed the top
"keyed" the entire car with a box knife, except the pass door, front fender, and hood.
Slashed all four tires
Didn't even try and take anything.
something like $5200 in damages.

doesnt matter where you live, theres retards everywhere. it honestly looked like some kids doing a quick ****** and grab job. they went around the carport looking for easy targets...soft tops...and had a field day...
theres also an s2000 and a new vert C6 parked near by but i didnt take a look at their cars, i should check them out today see if they got to feel the glory as well...

That happened in the parking lot of Super Target.
My garage isn't big enough to put my cars in, but I've got a good security system.. Mr. Smith, and Mr. Wesson. Touch my car and it'll be the last thing you do.

They do, my best friend used to work for them.. Did at the time, and he tried to get some tapes.. Their claim was the cameras couldn't monitor the parking lot that far back. Pretty sad, but that happened back in 2004.

When I had a softop I never locked the car. Now that I have a hardtop I lock it, mainly because I don't want the top getting jacked.

It's probably true. Most of those places only have cameras outside near the exit door. They only care about identifying crooks exiting the place. If you get robbed, carjacked, raped, etc. (all of which are not totally uncommon) that's your problem.

Yeah my very first job was working at Best Buy... Back then they had what would've been at the time pretty high tech video surveillance system, alarms.. you know, the works.
All this security and they spent more time watching employees than customers who might be jackin' their ****. Maybe if they paid their employees more than 6 bux an hour and killed the gay sunday morning meeting 4 hours before the store opens... lol.

god this makes me so sad. I caught a guy trying to steal my wheels once. I blasted him from about 20' away with rock salt from the moss 500 sawed pistol grip, then fucked with him severely until the police came.
