Christmas came early this year (thanks to Costco):

I basically cleaned out the store shelf. There's a third case still in the car. :giggle:

I'm liking these larger (and nicer) 16.9 ounce bottles in this release too.

BTW, if anyone wants to call around and see if their store is carrying it, the item number is 1032315.

Just got back from San Diego, got to go to the Green Flash tour and the Stone tour. We can only get Green Flash here in OK. Even better fresh.

I was happy to see that Prairie Ales, out of Tulsa, had the most beers on the Stone restaurant menu than any brewer other than Stone.

That's a damn fine place to eat with a ton of delicious brews to choose from. I was properly hammered after having at least 6+ 9% abv beers before and after the tour.

I'd love to buy a bottle or 3 from you, if you are interested. I'd also be willing to trade some Hardywood Gingerbread Stout if you are in to that kind of thing.

demoniam 11-29-2015 09:10 PM

Best buy currently has a sale on kegerators right now. 269 shipped. You can fit 3 ball lock or 2 pin lock kegs in them, if you homebrew, otherwise, they hold 1 commercial keg.

Who was looking for stuff from Firestone-Walker?

Humm... I need to ditch my keezer, it takes up too much effing space so I might look into this. Does it include a 5# bottle and a Sankey? Link for the lazy?

Kegerator: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/insignia...&skuId=4223301

If you're doing homebrew, you'd need a 3-tap tower or a steady hand. Tank included, but not sure about the regulator. it IS in the picture.

EO2K 11-30-2015 04:26 PM

Yup, I'm a homebrewer.

I've got a 4 tap keezer right now but it takes up too much damn space. For my health and my sanity I can't and shouldn't keep 4 taps filled. I absolutely love my Perlick Perl 525 faucets so I'd keep those, but the rest I could probably sell to recoup the costs. Hell I could probably just craigslist my spare kegs to recoup costs.

It'd be nice to have the option of a 1/6th barrel Sankey and a ball lock ready to rock, and maybe squeeze in a 3rd if there is space, maybe on a cobra tap or something.

Thanks for the link :bigtu:

Yeah, I'm sure I could do that. I'm too tied up this week to deal with any shipping, but next week shouldn't be any problem. I'll send you a pm either this weekend or early next week.

Ok, yeah, I've got some time here now to do this. Responding to your pm now.

Have you guys seen these? They're expensive, but I kind of like being able to keep only 1 gallon of beer on tap. I simply don't drink enough beer by myself to drink a keg worth before it went bad. I would drink a gallon of draft beer in a month, though.

Has anyone ever used the Tap-A-Draft system? I've seen a lot of pictures of it, but have never actually seen one in use.

rleete 12-09-2015 02:25 PM

Pretty freaking expensive. Buy growlers from local place, fill as needed. If it goes bad, you toss a couple of bucks worth.

Certainly not worth $350 (shipping, extra bags, etc.).

EO2K 12-09-2015 02:28 PM

^^ this. Growlers are your friends.

My friend's wife got him one for his birthday. I think I'll get him to take a couple pics of his. If you could buy just the bags and caps, and then set up a small 3 tap rig with just the consumables, a CO2 bottle, and a cheap fridge, that would be really cool...

demoniam 12-10-2015 10:43 AM

Most places are doing mini-growlers now, which is a little less than 3 american pints. Regular growlers are right around 5ish pints.

rleete 12-10-2015 12:20 PM

I have a Cornelius keg system. 3 kegs, CO2 bottle, regulator and taps. Whole mess cost me about $150, and it holds 15 gallons. Also bought a large "muck bucket", which I used to fill with ice and haul a keg around to various functions.

I just don't drink enough beer these days to even bother making any, much less filling the keg(s) from store bought.

Back to beer!

2012 vintage New Belgium Lips of Faith Biere De Garde.

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...1&d=1449855392

Biere De Garde, Saison, and 'Farmhouse Ales' are some of my favorite styles. Translated 'Bière De Garde' essentially means 'Beer for keeping' as in, to be stored. This particular beer is what I would call the lighter end for the style as far as body goes, and I admit sat on it for too long. Not much left of the hops or even the malt (because lighter) and everything was overridden my the orange. SO MUCH ORANGE. Though it was still really good, and I enjoyed it immensely.

So then this happened:

Stone XOCOVEZA

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...1&d=1449855392

Wife picked this up last week. No price tag but its right up her alley so she committed. aaaaaand then it was $17 for a 6 pack when she got to the register. Don't think of this as a beer, think of this as a holiday spices delivery system mixed with a solid dark beer. It's got A LOT going on. It's a sweet stout to be sure and they aren't kidding when they say "Stout mixed with Coca, Coffee, Peppers, Vanilla, Cinnamon and Nutmeg" as you can taste all of it. Surprisingly its not a muddy mess of spices but be ready for all of it should you choose to partake. I'd probably do this as a bomber rather than a 6 in the future.

good2go 12-11-2015 01:46 PM

^^ I've definitely got to keep an eye out for a bomber of the XOCOVEZA

I had one the other night that I thought was surprisingly good, since I'm primarily a stout fan, but I'm pretty sure this can be attributed to its Templeton Rye Whiskey barrel aging. I'd say this is pretty close to a "must try":
