Congrats!

Where did you find them?

Twibs415 04-08-2016 01:39 AM

I befriended the guy who works the beer department at dragers. He told me before he even put them on display. My co-worker and I bought 12. I'll check my other source on the weekend for more.

I been scoring them at various Bevmo stores around the eastbay. It's funny, some don't care how many you buy, but others limit it to 1 bottle per customer.

Pro tip: Try and avoid box/bag wine with this tap, in particular if you take a long time to finish it. Apparently it seals quite poorly out of the available styles in both storage and after you start pouring from it.

This design seems to work extremely well:

It's a quarter-turn faucet, which seals very well and yet doesn't need to be held open during dispensing. This one is from a box which claims that it'll last for up to six weeks after opening, and I can believe it. To give you some idea of how securely it closes, this one doesn't even have a foil seal on the opening like most of the push-to-dispense types do.

Planted 18 cascade's today and have 12 nuggets in pots waiting to go in the ground. I'm up to 45 plants now. Looks like I'm brewing this fall.

Has anybody tried this:

Founder's Project Pam Black IPA aged in maple syrup bourbon barrels?

I saw some at the store today and wanted to try it, but it was $24.99 /750ml bottle. Way too rich to suffer a dud. :jerkit:

Wow that's some expensive beer.

My favorite beer at the moment is Prankster, I normally like IPAs but when I saw there was a 7.6% Golden Ale I had to try it.

good2go 04-18-2016 12:37 PM

^^Quick follow up on that Project Pam: they went "on sale" for $21 last weekend (in spite of the Founder's website saying suggested retail is only $15  ) so I broke down and bought one last night. I'm hopelessly a stout fan, but I have to say I really, really liked it. I could definitely taste the IPA roots, but there was much more roasted malt, maple, oak, and whiskey goodness to it. Great for me, but definitely not just a black IPA. I'm glad I tried it, but at that price, I won't be buying another.

ApexAddict 04-18-2016 06:02 PM

Yeah that sounds pretty pricey. I honestly can't stand stouts, there's just something about them that I can't enjoy.

I've got a philosophy - drink now, work later (or never)https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1461193231

Drinking and wrenching go hand in hand though!

Very true, but if you're just drinking beer then you'll be good man :friday:

Beer of the Day thread

I had a Cambridge Bourbon barrel stout in a 750 bottle that suckered ass. Beer geek at the store fawned over it but it was a really poor example of an imperial stout and the Bourbon aromas were barely noticeable.

0 of 5 stars.

ApexAddict 04-25-2016 12:53 AM

I hate just about every single stout I've ever tried. I really like blonde ales as well as IPAs. I tried blue moon white IPA for the first time the other and it wasn't half bad.

I haven't found any bourbon barrel aged beers I've enjoyed.
