Tried ARROGANT BASTARD ALE yesterday.
Talk about BITTER. OMFG. Hated it..
Actually many of the dark brews I've tried recently I've not been a big fan of.
Currently trying BALTIKA: Golden Lager. Brewed in Russia, and quite tasty actually. Very mild, very refreshing. Liking it.

you're like the noob who comes here bragging about how he just bought an ebay turbo kit and is going to make 400 hp.
here's a tip:
countries known for good beer have good beer.
countries not known for good beer do not. generally those will be fizzy light lagery beers in green bottles.

actually since he's from california, i'd suggest:
Boont Amber Ale
Red Nectar
Red Seal
Those are all easy drinkin' california-y red/amber style ales. Little bit malty, just a touch of hops, and goes down easy flavor.

Yes I'm a beer noob, no I don't claim to know jack isht about it (or make 400hp lol), and yes I will try to find the ones suggested and see how I like em.
Planning to hit up Bev-Mo this weekend and stop hittin up 7eleven for "fancy" beer
