Idk it tastes like denatured alcohol. Only good when mixed with like gallons of juice.

Not really. Everclear works out to be like $20/liter of pure ethanol ($35 for 1.75L of 90%). Mr. Boston is like $11.40/liter of pure ethanol ($8 for 1.75L of 40%).

Excuse me, but I don't see how that's any different than drinking ****!

Did I mention it's really economical too?

WTF is all of this ****? Shut up, children, this is the beer thread.

If it is not fermented by ale yeast, lager yeast, or some form of bacteria, GTFO.

Tonight I am drinking Widmer Alchemy Pale Ale. On draft, natch. I find it drinkable. It's not too big, about 5%, which I like in a drinkable beer. Otherwise it is unremarkable. I would prefer more floral hop finish.

I had a 22oz Ninkasi Vanilla Otis and a moon pie for breakfast on Sunday.

Amen to that!

SO . . . last night's brew was a delicious Caldera "Mogli", an oak-aged imperial porter brewed with chocolate (in homage to the namesake chocolate Lab that was owned by the brewer's girlfriend). YUMMY!

Tonight, I indulged myself with a Track #10 Barrel Aged Imperial Stout from The Lost Abbey Brewing Co.

Stupid expensive, but ohhhhhh so good.

Default dinner last night

Whole foods pizza and one of these after an evening of climbing. Not a bad way to spend a Tuesday evening.

Same place I got the pizza our local whole foods has a rather good beer selection that actually rotates. I spend way too much money on beer there

most whole foodses have good beer selection. I used to play poker with our local beer buyer for WF. He was a solid dude.

Last night's selection from large chain supermarket:

Abita Abbey Ale tonight. Not bad, especially for the price ($4.99 for a 22 oz bottle).

Someone learn me about mead. I had some on accident the other day (ordered something random off the tap) and that **** wasn't bad. I googled it and its like honey wine or something? Is it just as sissy as hard cider or can I pretend to be a man when I drink it.

Making or just drinking mead?

It is in fact honey wine. I made 5 gallons of it for my wedding and indulgent sampling facilitated one of the worst hangovers I've ever experienced, so I never served it. I think it got the airlock knocked off and became rather oxidized :(

Much like cider its generally very dry so hard to not accidentally drink a lot of it. People tend to ferment it with fruit to give it some more body/flavor/color and my favorites are by far the berry types usually referred to as a Melomel. Brewed with hops and malt and its a Braggot, brewed with apple and its called a Cyser. A very classic preparation is brewing with herbs and spices, then its called a Metheglin.

Its a quite ancient beverage and rather difficult to make well. It most likely predates beer in most ancient societies. In antiquity it was believed to enhance fertility, but I tend to believe it just makes people get it on while they are **** drunk.

You should stop me or I'll keep going.

Interesting. I was tipsy after a glass and it tasted almost like soda. I need to try some other kinds.
