Figured one thread to scroll through might be easier. I don't leave the house on Black Friday usually, but this year the Gun Store by my in-laws is doing a sale, Columbia TN FYI. Might get up and go.

Sadly most stuff for sale this time of year is crap I don't want or need. Yet car parts and firearms to fit the list of wanty.

 

I've heard Wal-Mart is doing 4gb xbox 360's for $99, I'm going to try to grab one. Although I'm sure Wal-Mart is probably the worst place on the planet to be on Black Friday.

I've seen several places with crazy prices on tv's too, but mine always die in February, right after the Christmas/Superbowl sales, so I get to pay full price for them and never need one when you can find them at a decent price.

 

Gotta support your local gun store!!! I normally don't buy guns at my LGS, but try to buy everything else. Today I stopped by mine for a decamping die and some Nosler bullets... certainly could have had the die cheaper via Amazon prime, but keeping the mom&pop shops around is as important as supporting the NRA or SAF.

I broke my Galaxy Nexus the other day and ordered the HTC DNA for free as an upgrade.

Now today the LG G2 went on sale for free with a 2-year, so I'm on the phone with verizon wireless right now to try to get them to send me out that phone instead.

So annoying, I was not expecting a much better phone to come available for free. It's better than their BF sales; which is when I ordered my phone.

 

The DNA is a good phone.... BUT... It has a permanent battery, only 16g of memory, and NO external memory card slot. It COULD have been a GREAT phone.... Alot of companies are banking on that stupid cloud ****

 

I don't need the extra storage but the battery thing is odd.

Verizon wouldn't work with me. They actually suggested ordering the phone as a new line, then cancelling the current.

I even spoke with a manager/supervisor. So stupid, just send me the ******* phone and I'll send back the other unopened. It's that ez. Any other company in the world would be able to do it, but not verizon...gotta maintain that 100000% profit-margin.

I'm sure I'll be happy with the DNA. Although I didn't have an need to upgrade from the galaxy nexus, but I broke the **** out of it.

I love my Audio Technica ATH 50's. Got some serious help from Soviet because he's a audiophile. Currently running them into my M-Audio Fast Track as a DAC....my god...such glory.

Yeah, I've been using some low-end Sennheisers (got them on sale for $40ish) but decided that for that price I couldn't pass it up.

I know I can google this but what's the advantage of a DAC over plugging them straight into my Yamaha receiver?

 

Your receiver will have a built in DAC. (Digital to Analog Converter) This is ASSuming that your Yamaha doesn't happen to have a chip/digital amp and passes a 100% digital signal. (Not real common yet.)

However, even though good DAC chips aren't horrifically expensive, most receivers and/or cd players don't have great ones out of the box. A good entry level to midrange DAC is a good way to DRASTICALLY increase your sound quality.

 

Yeah, that's not working though since they've turned their damn phones off today ("Not accepting calls at this time").

EDIT: I just got through (FINALLY) to Bryan at FIC by emailing him and leaving my callback number. He said their phones have been busy, plus they're re-doing their phone system and it it supposed to go to voicemail if the line is busy, but apparently that may not be happening. I guess email them or keep trying the phone lines. The good news is they are still honoring the pricing!
