I started a thread at m.net on this last week and the only help I got was that the jawbone was the only one that worked well with the top down.

It's too bad that all bluetooth headsets make you look like a colossal tool.

Yes, They sure do. Wearing the thing while you're talking on it is one thing, but walking around with the stupid thing just hanging off your ear is super Douchey..

Theres a reason we call them "Blue Douche." The really funny thing is when I'm in the non-ghetto parts of Kansas City NOBODY is wearing one... Go downtown or to the ghetto, everybody and their mother is walking around with the stupid things on..

On that note, I have a Jabra BT500. >*.BlueDouche.

I've never understood bluetooth headsets. Do you really have that much to talk about on the phone. Nothing pisses me off more than being out in public and having some stupid douche next to me yapping on his headset. I may talk on the phone once a day, and I hold it with my hand, old school! I don't care how common place it becomes, I don't think I could ever make myself wear one.

They are great to wear if you want to do other things while talking, like drive on the highway, cook dinner or clean the apartment, but they are annoying out in public. Just hold the damn phone.

It's a little bit different story for me, I have nerve damage in my left shoulder that limits movement of my left hand from when I was hurt in the Army, so keeping my right hand freed up as much as possible is key.

See, thats fine. but the vast majority of people using them are just lazy and seem to think they are cool because they have a bluetooth headset and can talk on the phone constantly when they are out and about.

Respect.

I have used jabra headsets in the past with good results. I haven't found any other manufacturer that gets loud enough without effecting clarity.

The model I had prior was a Plantronics Voyager 510 and worked well, it was just huge! I hear most of the Voyager series is pretty decent.

I agree, and I try not to talk on the phone unless I need to while driving, it's usually "I'm running late, see you when I get there, bye"! And unless I am expecting a call I leave it in the car altogether, especially when out with my lady. She doesn't even take her phone when we go places, leaves it at home. I guess when we are together we really care less about anyone else calling us!!

I can't bring myself to spend $130 on a phone, let alone a headset. I don't even like people, I wouldn't have a cell phone if it wasn't required in this age.

Sorry for bringing this back from the dead, but is Jawbone still the BT headset of choice? I just need something that'll work well in the Miata with the top down and has volume controls on it.

I have a jawbone, and it works great with the top up. Not so well with it down, people complain that they can't hear me. They don't complain about wind noise though, so maybe I just don't yell loud enough or something.
