Remember a few months ago my thread about finding out my tenants were smoking in my house... we're keeping their entire security deposit just filed suit yesterday for an additional $4800 in damages. It's a long story that I will recant in great detail when it's all over (probably go to court in December).

I would feel compelled to fix this floor just because I always give properties back better than I received them because that's how I roll... but I really need the extra karma right now.

Tried with a hairdryer... maybe a heat gun next.

Toluene/Toluol may be worth a shot.

Toulene/Xylene is definitely on my short list after the more "indoor friendly/biodegradable" stuff is exhausted.

I just bought this stuff:

Have you tried the acid yet?

I have an interior brick wall that I cleaned with acid. You need to dilute it down, or you may etch the brick too much, and get run out of the house in a hurry.

Try a small spot to see what happens.

I hear ya. The other half of this whole story is that we're moving out within a month. I've got orders back to Virginia (DC/NOVA crew rejoice) in November, but will be getting the wife/kids out of here by mid/end of Sept. We're definitely paying the rent in this house through Sept, and probably at least a week or two into October... so it'll be completely empty for several weeks. If need be, I can try all the industrial-type methods with acid and afterburner glory then.

Earlier, somebody mentioned dry-ice blasting. Maybe dry ice would chill it sufficiently to make it let go, if you applied it for a bit and then tried scraping/scrubbing.

As a trial balloon, you could try spraying with an inverted can of that CO2 spray for cleaning dust out of keyboards, just concentrate on a single area to see. Pretty cheap risk if it doesn't work.

I drove through Norfolk the other day and didnt stop to see Levnubhin.

I literally drove through portsmouth and Norkfolk because I took the wrong exit for 664.

That'll happen... sometimes the Force is required to navigate the Hampton Roads freeway system.

My Krud Kutter has succeeded in simply making the floor sticky. This stuff is resisting all attempts to remove it. The dry-ice approach is on my short list.

Saw the buffer suggestion and was all like "Sam's in the military, he knows how to use a buffer, for sure."

Then I remembered he's an officer.

If all else fails use concrete cleaner from home depot the good kind that comes in 1 gallon buckets and contains hydrochloric acid. It will strip the brick the pick up some sealer while you are there and re-seal the area you just stripped. Be careful of what gloves you wear and what you use to scrub with because it will eat through a lot of different things.

Aka muriatic acid.

When this was mentioned on the first page, I was pretty sure it was going to end up what I do. I'm certainly going to wait until the place is empty to do it though.

Since it's in the middle of the room (closest affected brick is 3' from the wall) I can tape off the entire perimeter and do pretty much whatever I need to. I'm still fairly confident there is some miracle liquid out there that will dissolve this shiz instantly and wipe up clean... I just haven't found it yet.

It really sucks.

I've revisited the Krud Kutter Grafitti stuff and actually let is sit for 5 minutes before wiping up (like the instructions say), and it's the best thing I've tried yet. It works great on the smoother bricks, but the nook & crannies of the rougher ones still defy my attempts.

Bollocks.

They make Pressure washers with a Vaccum hood. The floor cleaning industry uses them.

Though if the 2 fused together this will not help you.
