I hear that.. I had a fun time driving my ex's Maz3. The 2.3 really gets up compared to the civics of the world, and it gets decent gas mileage.

As much as i like Mazdas i'd have to go with a WRX over the MS3. My brother has a wagon and it's the **** for a daily.

WRX and MS3 have almost the exact same MPG ratings with the better going to the WRX around town and the MS3 on the highway..

What about actual gas mileage? I don't look at ratings too much, they are more of a referrence point to me.

That's going to vary depending on the driver it's not a very good way to judge. The EPA MPG reports are done by the manufactor per EPA specs meaning a fairly even playing field of course they are not exact.

I don't know about the MS3, but my 04 WRX returned 27-28 consistently on the hwy/interstate, where it spent most of it's life. It was a good car for a salesman/DD. Fast enough, AWD FTW.

There was an MS3 last week at a BMW lapping day. Had the noisiest tires on the track. They were howling every time he just thought about turning the wheel. It was a FWD car in a RWD world being a Bimmer meet. It was whoopin up on most of the Beemer brigade though. Never got to talk to him to see what mods had been done if any.

as far as feel/power curve/traction and overall ease and smoothness with which it behaves during daily driving i would go hands down wrx....gas mileage? not so much

You lot are just like my buddies here. The trick is to have a r-e-a-s-o-n-a-b-l-e car for a daily driver. Once you have that, you do one very critical thing: You "Leave it alone!" I know this is hard for many of us here, but believe me, it is for the best. I keep a very strict line between my Miata (just for fun) and my BMW (keep bone stock). I strongly recommend this setup.

I hate ******* with cars all the god damn time. I don't have the time or money to **** with the miata, def. no another car...and why even **** with FWD gaydom? I'm still thinking about a base model hatch, but I would enjoy the ms3 a lot more even though its another $10k. I might still consider a used one, but I won't find a white car.
