Chinese turbo manufacturers must not think too much of their products...

PS - There is one chinacharger that is a particularly high quality one, and it's been used by several people. I will post a link here to a similar one, it's identifiable by the blue tag and it's a 50 trim T3/T4 with a .63 A/R exhaust.
It has a nice inlet with no major step. I know at least 5 of these are installed and currently still on the street without problems.

This one is cheaper but I have not seen one in person and I didn't like the step in the inlet to the turbine, there is a new version of this turbo with an anti-surge housing... but I have no data on those either.

I put like 5,000 miles on it. No appreciable thrust issues, I did damage the turbine with metal from the chinese manifold that went into the turbine blades under boost but considering the carnage the turbo held up rather well. It was still boosting fine. I didn't cry about it because although it had some bent fins it was still spinning true. I did decide to replace it, well, because it was $139 plus shipping... so why not. I have the old turbo as a backup, but it wasn't blowing oil or anything. I would have never seen the damage if I didn't remove the turbine housing when I did a full inspection on it.

It spools a little late, but I ran that 12.76 short shifting at 7200 RPM and a relatively gentle launch at the strip and backed it up later with another 12.76 shifting at 8500, which didn't buy me anything.
So that's what to expect, relatively untuned at 17 PSI.

I don't doubt that they could build a good quality turbo if their main goal was building one that's durable at any cost. However, many of them look like their main goal is trying to make the cheapest turbo that will last long enough for the seller to get good feedback on eBay. Right now it's hard to tell which Chinachargers are which.

i hav ran a SSAC t3/t4, and 40mm wastegate with no problems at all also. i know several people with "chinachargers" and they all work fine too. i know more with with problems with real garretts than with the cheap china turbos. i actually had a friend in a DSM brand new garret t4 come apart on him going down the interstate next to me.

It's pretty sick. Below is my dyno chart, the car was only street tuned and running 93 octane unleaded right out of the pump from Diamond Shamrock.

True. They just need some direction that's all. Here's your chance to provide that and maybe turn it into a profitable venture for you. People would gladly buy a $400 garrett clone that works like a garrett and lasts like a garrett, specially one that has been tested by someone like yourselves.
You can do that yourself though. Buy the turbo, make sure the compressor nut is tight and loctite it because i've heard of them coming off. Remember that they're reverse thread. If you don't feel safe running it with the internals they provide. Buy a rebuild kit, DIY install, then have it professionally balanced to have the piece of mind. My local shop charges $30-35 to balance a turbo assembly.
