I hope you guys are telnetting over a closed system where security is not really an issue.

Faeflora proposed a needlessly long and inconvenient solution that did not, at the end of it all, provide an actual command-line telnet solution.

In my case (for work, anyway) it's usually over either an ethernet crossover cable or within a private network in the 192.168.100.xxx space to which no router is connected.

This reminds me of the time I installed the t3/t04 in my miata. I had a similar problem to the one you faced: I couldn't make the turbo clear the shelf.

I chose an elegant solution: Gently massaging the shelf with a block of wood and a large hammer.

Your solution DID work...You tested it.
