my Panasonic plasma got some bad burn in, well like reverse burn-in, the areas on the side where the 4:3 programs don't fill the screen are significantly brighter on the edges if the screen is filled with white.
I do have the food network burned in however...

yeah that's what i read as well. I bought it in 07, it gets used more than it should. If i was smart i'd have gone with the LCD. whatever it still has awesome picture. I'm just going to leave it when we sell the condo.
But there are more advantages to 1080p sets adside from resolution. Some of the plasmas use a 1 peice glass instead of 2 peice on there 1080p sets.
You could probly get a 32' 1080p LG for around 450ish.
And burn-in is basically gone. there's pixel shifters and pixel orbiters to prevent it.
Haha, wouldnt that be cool.
I figure in the next year the LED prices will drop some, OLED will come out and then LED's prices will drop a **** ton and I'll grab a 46-55' for cheap :-D

yeah, SED was supposed to be the ****. LED ain't bad though. As long as you get a white LED and not RGB. The RGB are supposed to have better saturation, but over time the LEDs will decrease in brightness at different rates leaving blotches of color. At least if white LEDs start to degrade (which doesn't occur as noticeably), you'll just have darker spots and not discoloration.

I have a 36" LCD 1080p vizio and a 46" LCD 1080p Westinghouse for over 2 years never had any issues what so ever. Picture is the same as my 1080p samsung, IMO vizio is the best bang for the buck
The price went up since I last looked, but still cheaper than what I paid.
I swear by this thing. I did months of research and looked at everything before I got this. I barely use it, but when I do I get moist in the pants.
