Hey, a bunch of MT'ers went over to crap on the RD board. I gotta give jbguido some credit for being the lone ranger to come over here and stir the pot a little.
Jbquido, you say we don't understand. We say you don't. I'm feeling like a broken record here but for most here it ISN'T THE DRI-FTING!!! IT'S THE *******S!!!! Get it???? Lot's of us have been to events. All of us have done power slides for fun at some time or another. It's fun. Really it is. Sure it takes skill and practice. It takes a well prepared car to do it well. The problem is Drif-ting is entertainment. Take a go cart onto America's Got Talent. Drive really fast around the stage. You'd get boo'd off. Slide it around the stage while throwing up massive amounts of smoke? People might cheer. It's like juggling. Takes skill, practice, fun to do and maybe fun to watch. True motorsports exists not because of culture. They exist because man enjoys competition. Man competes at just about anything. There is an innate difference however between competitions with absolutes and definete scoring involved with a clear cut winner, soccer, football, basketball, hockey, golf, tennis, track & field, auto racing, etc., and competitions that are judged, skating, gymnastics, diving, slam dunks, drift-ing, etc. Some people enjoy sports involving absolutes. Some enjoy subjective activities. Most here prefer absolutes. Eva - I always considered ricers people who were more into appearance (usually tacky or outlandish) and the appearance of performance than real performance. Lot's of ricers in my book spend tons of money. It's not the money that makes a ricer it's the horrible useless crap they do to the cars. |

This thread is weird. I don't like *******s in general. I know a lot of guys that lower their car too low (IE very little travel left), put huge wheels with skinny tires, wings, body kits, never get them painted, have stock engines and drive like jackasses. They think everyone that passes them wants to race. They all have a at least 3 tickets for "********" or showing their ass in their slow cars. I could name 10 people I know that fit this description. Of these 10 people one of them is really good at ********. He's an incredible driver in general. Guy can shift gears so fast it's stupid. He ran a 9.41 in the 1/8 mile in a bone stock 240sx. He's good, but it's the other 9 in that group that pull him down and give *******s a bad name.
That said defending ********, *******s, and all that on this site is pointless. It's like preaching to an atheist. It's like going to HomeMadeTurbo forum and showing off your car that you just picked up from FM with a 2.0 stroker and FMII turbo kit on. Your shit might be faster than 90% of the cars on their site, but you will be ridiculed. Buying high end turbo kits is not what that site's about. |
For the record, she is not in any way banned or barred from the forum. Her early troubles were due to the fact that she did not reply to the confirmation email.
Her current condition is however restricted, and is done automatically by the forum AI's muliple log in detection system. |

Instead of sending me a PM, "she" somehow figured out where I work for and sent me an email to my work address.
Then, of course, she used profanity. In my work email address. My job is pretty PC, so that's not cool. She's been instructed to contact me at my personal email. I dunno. |
jbguillo I hope you see the comedy in this thread. Either way it's entertaining.
Trying to convert those who fail to see the real competition in it in driftin-g is futile battle. I don't doubt it takes skill. But IMO driftin-g requires less from the driver than a lot of other motorsports. That said, I respect the fact that anybody should enjoy their car, more so if they're actually driving it. |
Yep, I do. And just to inform you....I'm not here to convert anyone at all; I'm was just in utter awe at how much ******** is hated here, and had a few questions to ask.

What we don't like is any of the BS CA culture, idiotic wheel and tire choices, super slammed suspension, $10k 140 whp motors, or any other form of moronicy. Furthermore, we detest those who "drive" these ridiculous things on the street, do so unsafely, and make us look bad in the public's eye. |
I completely agree with you...there are a lot of assholes that associate themselves with it now. I'm not a fan of it either, and there's not much I can do about that. Any variation of the word "d rift" was banned, that's all that I was speaking about. You can talk about the retards who drive around like asshoels on the strret all day long and I would 100% agree.
|
It is folly to look for logic in the heart of men. (or internet forums)
This thread wouldn't have gone anywhere without you jbquido. You are the lube on this thread's condom. Nicely done. To use your 90/10 example. 90% of the time spent on this forum is for fun. 10% to learn something. Internet bashing and ranting is fun. Kind of like drif-ting but without the judges, tire expense, ricey cars and consequences if you get it wrong. |
I'm slightly bitter about the buttsexers. We lost a really wicked autox venue because of the buttsexing that was going on ... all legal and above board. People in the area didn't mind autox on a sunday, but they got a little bent out of shape when they would hear cars buttsexing all day. Bouncing off the rev limit and spinning the tires constantly grated on some nerves, go figure.
Buttsexing to the person who knows nothing about it looks like a dangerous gong show. Two years ago at our Champ Car event buttsexing was a demo event. Well fuck. These PROFESSIONAL guys put on quite the show. From what I saw before, during and after the event they did significant damage to every car that was there. They were selling ride alongs, I assume to let people experience the thrill first hand. Oh did I mention that they weren't insured for spectator ride alongs. And in general just looked out of control. Bottom line, this was a big wart on the ass of a very legit and prestigious event (for our area). They looked like a bunch of dangerous, amateur thugs out there. Guess who wasn't invited back? Yup, the buttsexers. And with all the media attention these twats get, like the fellow who ran himself over with his BMW? that was all over the forums a while back, it makes other amateur grassroots motorsports look bad. We share the same venues, driver "similar" cars so we all get painted with the same brush. Hell even legit well run buttsex events look like dangerous hooliganism to the uneducated. There, the logical reasons I think it is a joke and a blight on real motorsports. Oh ya, and buttsexing is for fags. |
There was a story on the news here a couple weeks ago that buttsexer turnout would be lower due to the high cost of fuel. Because fuel really is expensive when you look at the cost of tires. :jerkit:
But Jay is correct. When you invite the buttsexers to come and join your auto-x to share venue and defray costs, because of the hooliganisms that ensue, you are not invited to auto-x there any more. |
It sucks when any event venue is shut down. A few have been shut down in CA since I 've been here...and I haven't even been here for less than a year. it's usually due to idiot drivers crashing or insurance issues. I don't understand why they would shut it down completely to auto-x'ers when it has nothing to do with them. The sanctioning bodies that are left, are doing a lot to fix problems like these.
|
A venue appropriate for auto x very well may not be right for drif-ting. Big difference in noise levels to surrounding neighbors. Unfortunately the complaining neighbors don't know or care that there is a difference between the two activities. All they know is they had to listen to cars with outlandish exhaust notes, squealing tires and revving engines and smell the damn tire smoke when they were trying to enjoy a day off. Worse yet is when people leave the venue and continue to practice their "art" in the adjoining neighborhoods on the way home.
The pissed off homeowner doesn't care what the activity was. They only know they hated it. |
how come every drift car looks like it on the front lines of the Blitzkrieg?

Koto,
You are making an excellent point. Shut up! For all the haters the best thing that could happen is Darwinism killing off the whole thing. If "Dancing with the Cars" goes away we can get back to the business of actual timed events undisturbed!!! If you fix it you are just prolonging the agony. I think the whole sagged pants thing is about the worst fashion idea to come along in forever. I figured like many fashion mistakes it would be short lived. Boy was I wrong. After 15 years you still see the occasional guy with his ass hanging out trying to look cool while he has to hold his pants up walking in the rain. ******** is like that. Maybe if we ignore it it will go away quicker! If they start killing fans, themselves, pissing off the public, etc, maybe johnny law will put a bullet in it's head! |
I just lol'ed re-reading what I wrote. If I hadn't written; "If buttsexers don't start taking their events more seriously someone will die, and it will bring even more negative attention to buttsex" myself, I'd put it in my sig.
|
The only problem with calling ******** bu***ex is every time I see the word I have that damn video urban posted, burned into my brain, pop back into my head again. As fast as I could close that window it was still too long. It's one thing to joke about all the gayness and bu***ex, actually seeing it is a whole different thing. Even for only a few seconds. Gaah, my eyes!
Heh heh. He said hole... |
We recently lost an autocross venue in the area, not because of buttsex, but because it "damages the parking lot"..... people saw tire marks and the locals freaked out.... plus they're building a retirement community nearby. Old people have sway in matters like this.
Unfortunately, buttsex will always be viewed by many as a dangerous and destructive activity. There's nothing that can really be done to change that. That said..... I enjoy watching buttsex; doing it well DOES take talent, seat time, and lots of car control. I don't do it (unless you consider sliding the tail a bit in the wet or snow to be buttsex), because I don't like smashing my car into things, or being lumped in with the nutballs that do it dangerously in the streets. The "culture" surrounding buttsex, or more specifically, what the media PORTRAYS as the culture surrounding it AND import car "culture" in general, is what bothers me. I see no reason that we can't have tv shows, car shows, and events without all of the "that is so mad tyte JDM yo" that seems to go on. The over-hyping of import enthusiasm in general makes us look juvenile as a community. Just look at shows like Car Crazy on speed channel, as soon as Barry Meguire features anything involving the import scene, they automatically find the most outrageously retarded car they can find (pimped out cavalier or other such abomination), and the most badly spoken yo-boy Rice-fanboi to talk about it on camera. To much of the esablished car community, we, as fans of import cars and what is percieved as the "culture" surrounding them, are a big joke. That needs to change. I think that the sentiment on this forum regarding ******** (buttsex if you will), is a reaction to the above sentiment. Censoring the word on the forums was simply a jab, and I believe a lighthearted one, at buttsex as a vehicle for the stereotypes surrounding Import car "culture" as a whole. |
Oh, and calling it buttsex, makes me laugh every time I write it!
|
AHahaha, very amusing thread... Whats going on JB? How was that auto x event a few weeks back? I'm still saving up for those seats so let trav know I didn't forget about them.... Ah, This is Bryan, I picked up your old 91 seats in case you forgot.. Anyways I'm trying to find the time to replace my seals still but after that expect me to be tracking with you guys..
Why do we discriminate against each other, whatever sport or event we are into we still drive miata's so should'nt we be supporting our brotherin where ever they are and however they wish to drive? Just makes the miata more appealing to all drivers and hope it makes my cars blue book go up, ahahah, yea right... well anyway thats just my 2 cents... Later guys... |

I see some a-hole driving a miata with one rusted fender, rainbow paint on 2 others, SUV weight wheels, slammed, huge wing, lot's of JDM awesomeness stickers, his stereo rattling every panel on his car, doing the 4 lane weave without signalling and I'm supposed to support him since "it is a Miata"! I'm sorry but stupid is as stupid does and I'm sure going to call it stupid when I see it. I don't care what he's driving. Wrong, forget that... Back it up... it's even worse if it's in a Miata as it makes the rest of us look bad. :vash: |
If D_R_I_F_T_I_N_G is now called "BUTTSEX", can we rename the the DRIVERS of those cars "---- INTRUDERS"? :ky:

God damn it. I was going to respond to many points about this stupid thread, but this thought trumps them all:
Call ******** whatever you want, but not buttsex! There are many, homo and hetero alike (or different) who think buttsex is GREAT! I'm pretty sure the wifey would be pretty upset that you all are comparing a great and noble act to sliding a car sideways for POINTS! There is no orgasm involved! You all lose! Now stop it, you should be ashamed of yourselves... |

I love it. I still don't get the point of coming to a forum that clearly doesn't care. That would be like me coming over to RD and going on about how HPDE is far superior to ******** and that Marty isn't the God he thinks he is (and yes, i saw that fucking thread... and yes I know he is a member here and i don't give a flying fuck). |
O my god! this thread is crazy! Drift , Auto X , Drag racing. Its all the same...The problem is getting these shit off the street. I see dumb ass rear wheel drive ******** in the street. honda racing on the street, and people trying to auto cross around road construction cones. Although ******** is the most dangerous on the road...still when everybody is at their own track and place its ...its pretty cool to see a car go sideways, or fast at the drag strip and auto x.
My mexican co - worker thinks im stupid for even making my car fast because i can't go over 65 mph on the freeway. but i told him i could do it at the track over 100 mph...he still think i'm crazy. its who you hang out with and where you go and do. LOL ya got some crazy names for ********! buttsex..LOL |
so anyone have any good buttsex videos I can watch to see if Ill change my mind about it? who knows, I might experiment with buttsex this winter when its wet:D
|
Both of these videos from Zero Lift are ancient. but I enjoy them both a lot. Good editing not just slapped together.

This is a event from the area. For everyone else. This is what beginner or amateur level looks like by comparison. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnFBAhL1Oh4 |
SleeperMX5 "O my god! this thread is crazy! Drift , Auto X , Drag racing. Its all the same..."
Uh, no it isn't. One of them is car dancing. The other two are competitions where there are clear cut winners and absolutes. If you mean jagoffs on the street are all the same, fine. The actual competitions? Nope. Not the same. |
don't cut your apex too tight, you might lose your fiberglass fascia.

even the porn was JDM! my "why was fuckface banned" thread got more replies than my "monterey historics at laguna seca" one.. |
Now I've got to look for your historics thread. Love the historic races. A couple years ago here in Portland the big boys were bearing down on the Chicane at the start. A real 427 cobra lost it, tagged a 68 427 vette. Bashed in aluminum and exploding fiberglass. My wife actually shed a tear. She cried to me "you aren't supposed to cry at car races are you?" Even though she hates my Miata, she does love cars.

To be honest you guys talk about it not really being like a competative or timed sport. One of the best ways to earn points in tandem is to pass the other driver, to find an opening in his method and get in front of him. Points are awarded for even being close or pressuring the other driver. All points lost on spin out or hitting the other car.
With that said, aside from points scored for "smoke" which isn't even a consideration in most levels of competition by competent judge. The judging is left down to actual measured qualities. They use radar guns to determine speed, and they've come up with devices to determine angle. Distance from a clipping point or apex can be determined visually and they get footage of for replay value. and distance to other driver. Drift courses are short, but if you look at the where the most points are awarded its to drivers who show capability to pass the person in front of them, or potential to, were it a circuit. |
