Wait, I thought it's not even possible to accelerate in a FRS without revving past 5k
But seriously: that engine is fine, esp in such a light and n/a car, no need to baby it. If I had one I'd probably drive it in anger all the time. Because driving a slow car at 10/10ths is actually kinda fun.
BRAAAAAAAP *shift, chirp* BRAAAAAAAAAAAP *powershift* BRAWAWAWAWAAAAAAAP................................ ............and there's 65mph
I still think they're incredibly sexy, and would still like to get one for a work commuter some day. Every time I see one that's not riced out, I just admire. Still impressive to me that such a cheap car can look so good

Oh yea, update with my pristine white frs, it's not pristine anymore and someone has scuffed my rear bumper. Doesn't look like it'll cost more than deductible so I'm left to do the repairs myself possibly. Need to take it to the dealership body shop and see what they say about it. They did a great job on my ex's 2015 black frs.
I drove a bolt on and tuned frs 2 weekends ago and initial reaction was that it had a lot of torque and I was impressed that it would spin proper sized street tires when launching from like 3k or less. But I've been driving a bone stock miata for the last 2 years.
I would basically do a massive square wheel/tire setup, street comfy coilovers (instead of the track spring rates that are on the BRZ and make it annoying day-to-day) and call it good.
Don't even need to do an exhaust since the 2018 has teh adjustable setup.

Nice! I like GS stuff.
It's weird, but lots of companies are getting all paranoid about the EPA and moving away from the blatantly illegal stuff like catless dp's. It's especially bad in CA, where many places won't even sell you completely random stuff just cause you're in CA. Like, try to order DEI titanium exhaust wrap on amazon for example. It won't let you cause you're in CA. So dumb

I figured it had something to do with that.
Those side-of-the-road smog stations have me all paranoid too, even though I've yet to see one on this side of the bay.

You'll be fine, even if they do pull you over to do one of those, I'll make sure of it
(also it's very helpful to run a modified OEM heat shield over the dp instead of the shiny aftermarket ones)
Also IMO when running pump gas you want to go catted anyway, cause it would smell real bad otherwise. Only time I actually like the smell is when running E

Until the gov't decides to enforce the laws regarding obnoxiously loud motorcycle exhausts, I have no problem with people deleting catalytic converters and removing smog equipment. Noise is just as much a pollutant as the rest.

Woo! We are twinsies! I have the same GS downpipe! Although I'm sure you will get yours installed before I do.
This is why I like the MadDad downpipe. Everyone laughs at that heatshield buuuuut...
Wait, really? Since when? I was going to order some eventually, but hadn't got around to it yet. :(

I've had parts sit in the trunk of this car for over a year without being installed
so today I got the new hotness from Injector Dynamics: the ID1050x
I have a few sets of ID1000's and was just going to go the tried and true route, but a deal popped up and I couldn't resist.
Looking forward to seeing what all the fuss is about. Also I LOVE that company cause all their products come with ALLTHEINFO for tuning

public service announcement:
NEVER trust your local backyard mechanic that charges basically pennies for installs, or if you do, go over every single thing and verify it's done right.
just spend the last 3 hours attempting to tune an 03 wrx with vf turbo and supporting mods that had his injectors installed by the above mentioned hack, and after spending all that time and repeating at least a dozen times that there's a leak somewhere, and that fueling is way off, I finally tell him to pop the hood and dive in, to discover the vacuum line to the FPR just hanging there, not even slightly connected to the manifold.
Good kid, and I don't mind people trying to save money, but he learned a lesson today.
