I average 24mpg in my legacy gt to work and back

Speaking of MAF vs SD, a friend of mine had an bugeye wrx whose MAF maxed out at around 300cfm IIRC. I remember watching his laptop as he made a pull and watching it peg around 4500rpm (big turbo). Does anyone know what the engine does to keep running past this point? Does it switch to speed density? Is there such a thing as MAF/SD hybrid? ?

it's 300maf/gs not cfm, but basically that's not really the cap, the real cap is 5v from the maf, you can raise the g/s limit to whatever you want. and no it doesn't switch to anything past that, it just runs whatever was the last value before it maxed out.
There is SD of course, and there are a couple ways to hack the setup to make it read more, both require extensive tuning knowledge. Yes there's a way to set it up in hybrid but honestly I don't see the point, at least not yet. Subaru making enough power to exceed the stock maf isn't gonna get great mpg

So yeah.

1. Replaced Radiator and had to move the dang power steering bottle.
2. Power Steering bottle hoses started leaking, re-clamped them with worm clamps.
3. Fixed A/C, new orings on the compressor side and filled it, power steering pump started leaking like a civ.
4. Rebuilt the PS pump with all new seals, yay no more leaks from it.
5. Power steering fluid all over the drive way and steering starts being all somewhat non-power after 50 miles....what the duck? Everything is dry up top.
6. Get under the car, leaking from a rusted PS line, hard line going to the PS valve, I guess the pressure being normal again popped it finally.
7. used a piece of hose and a clamp, put around the leak, leaks less now, at least can drive it. Ordered a hose repair kit from Shoobaroo, waiting.

Dis car...I sware!!!

On the other hand its less ugly with the Epic springs and Sti wheels for a daily beater.

air in the ps system makes it go bananas. most people double clamp the lines (after replacing them with new ones of course) just to make sure no air gets in.

Are you speaking of an Alpha-N type setup?

It's common on the old E30 M3s.

I wouldn't even if I drove a beater worth 2 grand.

On another note, I'm wanting to shed some weight from my car. Nothing too drastic or spendy, basically lose as much weight without compromising DD duties or making the car a gutted rattle tub. So far I've lost at least 50-100 with all that's done to the car, a plan on losing ~150lb more.

I want my car to run mid 11's even with my mediocre driving.

I've let a valet drive basically all of the cars I've had over the last few years including the BRZ and the GT Mustang (which had a terrible touchy clutch).

It was funny watching him kill it 3 times pulling away from the restaurant.

I need to do it--my car came from the north.

I might even have an issue with it, I dunno. i've bled my brakes like 3 times over last few months.

feels solid, then gradually i feel like i have no intial bite and mush to my pedal feel.

just ignore it, it will go away. if you ever can't stop, then you'll know that this was the problem

If I recall they're pretty accessible. The bitch is getting the flares apart without destroying the lines and fittings if it's all already rusted to ****.

open end+flare fitting=fail

Will a flare wrench not fit or something? If you dont have any, the $6 set at vatozone is better than nothing.

I've never really had a problem because ours don't rust because CA, but I've seen some that were demolished by the monkey attempting to remove
