ive actually seen that before, and i forget what the equation is.. man now i have to go find it to settle the mind...

 

It's pretty easy to figure out. Play with a few numbers and you'll see that the answer always has something in common. Once you determine what that is, look at the symbols, and it becomes clear how they do it.

its easy to find out if something is divisible by 9, add the two digits, and if you can divide that by nine there you go. same thing with 3.

Yeah, after a couple tests, I realized they simply rotate the symbols to accommodate the “9” factor. Should have tried more than once before posting here and asking a dumb question. I decided today that I am the suck (thanks Joe) and I should stop drinking at lunch.
