Not. I dunno. There was some pretty decent base, but I've had it ear hurting before, and this wasn't. My friend opened the trunk (where the woofer was) and some cop runs up and starts trying to give me trouble. He was looking for an excuse, and that's what he picked. But, my friend standing on the other end of the car could hear the cop in a normal speaking voice over the "illegal decibel levels"

doesn't look like a meter is required, but a tape measure is.

If you can hear it at all from 25 feet away it is illegal here. You don't need a meter.
1. Pay the ticket. You will not beat it in court.
2. Turn it down. Nobody wants to hear that **** but you. That's why they passed the law.
(I used to run a Kicker Pro-Series 18" before I grew up.)
In court once I heard this exchange regarding a loud exhaust ticket:
Defendant: I don't think it's that loud, sir.
Judge: Is it louder than a stock exhaust?
Defendant: A little, but not much.
Judge: If it is louder than stock, it's not legal. Guilty.

Laws like this are BS. There are a lot of things in life I don't want to hear or see, but it's America. There is a line between protecting someone else's rights, and violating another's, and I think it is crossed too often.
Sometimes I wish I was a badass lawyer, I'd go around helping people getting dicked by cops. I'd even charge reasonable rates.

Seriously?
Is life so damn comfy that we get upset that much by something so little? So upset that we need to make rules about it? There has got to be something more important to worry about (cough* 2 wars *cough)

what wars? obama brought peace to the world and pulled out all the troops.
Back on topic:
If the law specifically says: when the vehicle is being operated upon a highway
and said vehicle was not being operated upon a highway when said ticket was issued, then no law was actually violated.
simple.

Yeah sorry I'm bitter...
Should people in public receive tickets for chewing so loud I can hear them 10ft away? It seriously annoys me more compared to loud music.
edit: sorry for off topic.. :/

I enjoy good music too...but I (and my daughter and wife) have a right to a reasonable level of piece in our residence.
Abe...I'd fight it. It won't go anywhere...but I'd do it just on the basis that you probably weren't in a situation for which the law was designed. It's one thing to enjoy good music on a nice system, it's another to impinge on the rights of others. It's something else entirely to issue a ticket under the premise of the latter when that's not the case.
