What's wrong with ODS?

A track is a track, it's better than an auto-x field and has banked turns. I don't understand your point?

Would you rather he rack up wins at Summit Point? or how about VIR? both are venues on the list.

I just don't understand the point of drifting at all I guess. If i wanted to get thrown all over the place I'd hop on a roller coaster and get thrown around.

You aren't being thrown, you are doing the throwing...which is besides the point that it's not really as violent as all that. It looks pretty "jerky" but that's only because of the rapid transitions, it's really pretty smooth. You could set a soda in the car while out drifting, and so long as you didn't crash or mess up you could open it afterwards without it fizzing over. (have done it.)

Dear Drift King,

Boi, Yo Mad JDM Skillz R no match for the VTEC in my pants.

I'll care when you actually do something productive with your car or your life. I am sure your car will look pretty right up till the time when you stuff it into your "competitors" car or a wall, just a matter of time. Nothing like drifting to prove that you can stuff a car into a wall better than a NASCAR driver. Putting time and money into a drift car is like putting a condom on your foot. Sure, it's different, but it still makes no sense.

Mark

PS - Why would I be mad? The only people mad are your parents for not having that abortion when they had the chance.

your just an e-thug. its fine. If you were to do a ride along with me you would compare it to a roller coaster. I have had many people say that

This is the track i just won at, but this was taken approx 1 year ago...

Meh, I like the idea of drifting, and it's fun as hell to watch (I'll be at Summit Point for Hyperfest)

I think that if it were a timed event, where points were awarded seperately from the subjective judges scoring, based on the time taken to complete the course.... people might be more interested. A "knockoff time" could be set according to average et's in qualifying; and those that complete the course slower than that time would be disqualified. Those who beat that time would be awarded more points based on the margin by which they beat said time. The expected ET could progressively get shorter as the event goes on, similar to blinds in a poker game only inverse.

Right now it's basically a car show, with driving (skilled driving I might add) but I doubt that it will have a high visibility place in automotive culture for an extended period if there isn't anything concrete by which to quantify the driver's performance on track.

I think it's been addressed before. At D1 and I think soon in FD. Judges have speed cameras at key turns to make sure the drivers are going fast enough. They also have installed angle sensors because some cars naturally look like they are farther sideways than others. They are coming out with more and more empirical methods of "judging" a drift.

While it would be possible to set a course "time" for qualifying in Tandem its not possible. Tandem is interesting. People who I know have tandemed for a long time took a hand at wheel to wheel racing and they said it was intense. On the other hand. Chelsea Denofa, who drives (used to?) a Drift Miata grew up racing, was racing Spec Miata and Formula Mazda before his drivers license and now drifts because he finds it much more fun and the community better than with standard racing.

Hey, here's an idea...stop doing stupid **** on public roads and acting like the laws don't apply to you since you're on a bike.
