Default Electrical help

If I've replaced a solenoid with a resistance of ~13.5ohms with one that has a resistance of 23ohms is there any way that I can alter that 2nd value to match the first? I know that raising the resistance is easily done... Oh, its a 12v solenoid but not sure of the amps that it draws.

To avoid a check engine light... there are several reasons why "get a different solenoid with the correct ohm rating" isn't a viable solution.

run a 33ohm resistor in parallel with it

So a 33ohm resistor in parallel with the 23ohm solenoid will give me a resistance value of ~13ohm? Does it matter which wire that it is on?

it wont make my drawing look correct.....

the x's are just supposed to take space.
that would make the total resistance 13.5ohms from the input to the output

a 33 ohm load in parallel with a 22 ohm load combines to a net of 13.2 ohms

exactly, I rounded Also he said 23 not 22. So (23*33)/(23+33) = 13.55

Heh I wasn't checking your math, I was responding to Pat.

But good job on checking mine. :gay:

So, the resistor would be bridged between the two wires correct?

correct, between the "entrance" and the "exit". They should share the same feed and ground.
