i think a lot of people just misunderstand evolution. they think it's some active process when in reality it's very passive.
i wonder if the last piece of human evolution is to eliminate all the ugly people...

I would beat him to death with the claw end of a hammer. That is the most ******* retarded argument I have ever heard. Of course peanut butter won't make new life, its ******* crushed up peanuts and sugar...

I always like the argument of where God came from. They say God was just always there, so why can't energy and matter have always been there? Why do we have to be created by God? God and religion are a good thing for a lot of people. It gives them something to live for and a reason to not be selfish. As more people stop believing in God, they start living only for themselves since there is very little retribution.
I'm Atheist myself, but I know people who might as well kill themselves if they lost faith in God. Evolution I'm sure will one day be proven true. I'm sure creation just needs the right mix of atoms, molecules and energy to produce a single celled organism. We just don't know enough about DNA quite yet to understand how to create it. Unfortunately, it could also be what causes the end of the world. Anyone wanna take bets on if it's found sometime around 2012?
Oh, and I totally wanna smash that jar of peanut butter in that guy's face. No one ever said ANY matter can be turned into life. They also say it requires a **** ton of energy, not a flashlight's worth of light, dumbass.

I've done the whole "so explain this to me" thing with the bible thumpers but they always some back with something about "God works in mysterious ways" or "You're not supposed to understand everything" (the whole eating the apple from the tree of knowlege thing). It is like talking to a Liberal. You just cannot get them to think clearly or base things on facts. Feelings and Faith are horrible things in the hands of the powerful or the masses. <--- Hmm, maybe I should get that quote attributed to me and sell t-shirts with that printed on it.

That's the thing. How else do you prove it but with evidence? Evolution isn't something tangible, and religious people will continue to deny the evidence until science can somehow turn it into something they can touch. Just like the peanut butter thing. Just because life doesn't pop up over night, evolution isn't real. Its a process that takes hundreds of thousands or many millions of years, so of course you can't watch it happen. So in short, it will never be fully accepted. In my opinion, the evidence is overwhelming and even still calling it a theory is a bit strange to me. Are religious people really so insecure about their faith that they will try to hold back science so they can selfishly hold onto their beliefs? Seems so to me from my observations living in the bible beating south.

I believe that some scientists has been able to create a few nucleotides (allthough I can only find half assed sources for this now). Far from DNA as we know it. It doesn't really code for anything, needs extenal enzymes for its replication etc.
Btw, thanks for the peanutbutter clip, that was the most stupid thing I've seen in ages. I'm still wondering what he expected to jump out of the can? I sincerly hope that you've been ironic all this time, because... damn..
(Since the title to the clip was "Chuck Missler takes the misunderstanding of evolution to a whole new level." I suspect that you indeed are ironic).

Yeah, but they got through the longest red light in town without having to wait, that is proof enough of god. Or maybe they won $20 on a scratch off, clearly gods work. Or maybe doctors killed cancer in a family member, obviously gods hand was guiding the doctors hand.
Thats one of my biggest beefs with religion, and Christianity mostly, is that everything is thanks to god. No matter how hard someone works for themselves, all of the credit goes to god. Don't thank the people responsible, thank god for it.

Not long ago I got into a little back and forth argument over Armagedon. From there it moved on to god, from god it when into religion. A friend started firing away about how accepting Jesus Christ is the ticket to salvation. As the argument came to a end he wanted to **** me with a stupid quote I hear all the ******* time. He says to me... "If a tree falls in the forrest, and no one is there to see it, does it still make noise?" To which I kindly replied "How do you know the tree fell if no one was there to see it fall?? Also lets say someone found the fallen tree so then why is it that nowadays there are a millions stories about how, when and why the tree fell each claiming the exclusive right of being accepted to 'heaven'??"
Religions are nothing but a way of controlling people.

Maybe someone should have just put one of those jumping snakes in the jar and freaked the dude out. That would have been hilarious. Or put some maggots in it.
Really, I think Evolution has already been proven just by the problems man has caused. Bringing bugs and animals to different regions of the world, they take over or get killed off and some have adapted. There has been evolution of virus strings and bacteria due to our increase in medications and antibacterial products. So, if we can show that a single cell organism can be created, then show that it can be evolved into a larger, more complex organism, then, at least in my eyes, the theory is totally proven. I'm sure that won't be enough for some people, though.
