They should have just said:
"you know what, you're right...we really fucked up there, and in a messed up sorta way. Thanks for pointing that out for us, but we would appreciate it is you would note the revision we've now made to that record on your site."
Like the United Guitar thing, they probably could have saved themselves a lot of pain.
