He had been planning to sell it all along. A few times he was about to give up during the build and sell it but he kept at it. The reason he wants to sell it is because he wants to build another car that you guys will probably hate lol

 

I do not understand the point of dropping that much cash into something and then turning around and selling it. You will never get back anywhere near the amount of money that was sunk. Like I would be surprised if he gets more then 5k for it and that would be at the completely upper range.

 

How many times did you offer to sell your Miata for pennies on the dollar when it was giving you hell?

The difference is I did not start out with the plan on building my car and then selling it and going on to another project. I wanted to sell it out of frustration. I understand that every dollar I put into it is "gone" and have absolutely no expectations of getting any of it back.

A simple, factual statement. Flexible lines containing pressurized, flammable liquids routed unprotected through sheet metal. Totally hacked electrical harness with poorly made crimp butt connections. Wiring and flexible lines containing pressurized, flammable liquids as the low point underneath the car. Etc., etc. It's simply a pile and needs a lot of rework to be reliable and safe (it can still keep the "look"). This kid is no engineer.

BTW, it is possible to build a unique car, even a rat-rod style car, without building a pile. But it is more difficult to do. He spent enough money. He just didn't spend any effort.

Don't forget about shopping with that cash at a local hardware store for some nice chicken wire and fencing board, while finding ways to fasten stuff down with wood screws and tape.






Maybe you should become a hybrid builder and pick up some pool hose and zip ties for the engine itself.
