TigerDirect's Deal of the Day is a 23" ACER for $140... they usually have great shipping rates, so probably like $150 otd.

I also love my Samsung stuff. They've lost their mind with the gimmicks lately on their TV marketing, but their monitors have been great for me.

Overstock has 2 24"s right now, pick your style:

If you're not going to be doing any professionaly photo/video ****, and just want something to surf the web and for regular use, I'd say stick with a name brand and go cheap. I've payed a little bit more for the Sammy's, but I love the way they look.

On the other hand, bigger is better. I don't think I'll ever buy another computer screen under 24", but who knows what the technology will be in a decade when I'm in the market.

Whelp, just got back from Fry's and I'm honestly disappointed.

Found a great 23.6" (whatever that is) Viewsonic for $189.99, and decided to buy it.

Out of stock.

Settled on the 23" AOC (whatever brand that is) for $169.99, but also out of stock.

Checked on one more, this time not getting my hopes up, a 23" (forget the brand) for $179.99. Also out of stock.

Finally as the salesman goes to look in the back, I see a eMachine and start looking up reviews on my phone, since I had my doubts about a crappy computer company building a monitor. Case looked cheap but image looked ok, $144 for a 23". Mostly good reviews on Amazon, couple crappy ones though.

Salesman came back with a 22" widescreen ViewSonic for $155, which I'm currently staring at. Not bad, although it's f'ing smaller than my 18.5". Forgot to figure in the different aspect ratio. Old screen was 12" tall by 15" wide, 19" diagonal. New one is 10.75" tall by 18.75" wide, 21.5" diagonal, and that's the part that got me.

I also bought a DVI cable to finally upgrade from VGA.

I wasn't planning on returning the monitor, however my $22 DVI cable is an extension, so I'm going to have to anyways. Pretty pissed, that's a 60 minute round trip. Not sure if I'll return the monitor or not, it is a $35 savings I really didn't need to spend over the 23" I was looking at.
