I know for a fact that the GTS Celica is not boosted from the factory
it simly has another gear (6), and valve lift control over the GT, along with a more aggressive tune and raised redline no biggie here is the best celica evaah http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...-safari-93.jpg |
no, only the alltracs had turbos. it would have been a 2ZZ-GTE otherwise and those dont exist. T is for turbo. 3S-GTE was the turbo motor in the alltrac / mr2.
and the celica racing the bike on the interstate may have been an older 91-93 ST185 alltrac. the video is long gone but it was pretty awesome. I think that was 400some awhp. |
I really like the alltrac celicas. Top gear did a special on them a long while back and it got me liking them. Too bad they are extremely rare...and if found will cost you a lumpsum.

Nice!
I haven't really gotten into many dig runs with the new car, but have had a few rolls. I ran a spankin new Infiniti G and pulled on him (i think they're up to like 330hp now). i'VE annihilated more then my fair share of civic so far though. Got pulled on by a GC8/2.5RS with a turbo (bet it was a EJ20 swap). Tried running a Crossfire SRT-6 from a dig..... walked his ass off the line only to miss 2nd :( |
You are all correct, it is NOT and OEM turbo car. I don't know what I googled that made me think it was turbo'd stock... but this guy last night was definitely boostin.

toyota will bring the celica back, they have to, the scion just wont cut it in the perfomance world
and just so anyone knows, the Tc is not a celica replacement, nor was it intended to be one! Toyota has to come out with anything boosted and either RWD or AWD and tackle the younger market again... |
they need to bring the supra back 1st.....
|
they need the 98 supra back, with a light face lift, nothing major, i love how the supra looks
|
in todays dollars the a true to it's name supra would be way to expensive to be successful for toyota
|
same with the awd turbo celicas. back in 1988 the alltrac was $21,000. I imagine the average honda civic was around 5000?
|
I sold my 88 st165 alltrac to start my civic. The s3gte was a great engine, lots of potential with just a mbc, but it was dead heavy and the interior is terrible. I would still like a ST185 , though.
|
By the way, nice kill, even if it was fwd!
|
lol I can't believe how much misinformation is floating around this thread. I thought I cleared up what engine it had in it on the last page... Anyway I think this celica would have had to be boosting because I know a couple gt-s' with I/H/E/underdrive pulleys that only run 10.0's in the 1/8th... in order to get even into the low 9's they have to go turbo or do a shit ton of work to the motor(or spray of course). I'm running low 9's and i'd imagine you're either somewhere around me or faster(high 8's).

Another kid has a 100 wet kit on his tc and can't even keep up with my best friends 94 JRSC non-intercooled p-p-p-pwercard!! miata. Everytime I see a scion I just go :giggle:. |
theres this one scione around my area,
i raced it once, and the kid blew my doors off later i found out it was built, he runs 11's..... the thing didnt look highly modified, he had wide ass wheels , a drop, and muffler, i failed to notice the intercooler, it was black to say the least, i was surprised... |
The Xb is actually made by Daewoo. Case closed.
Toyota is now simply about the profits. While GM is trying to build higher quality cars. Hmm. |
