So with my family growing my 06 Pontiac Torrent which is on the large side of midsize suv's has become to small. I came across a 2004 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer Edition with 30k on the clock. They want 15k for the truck. Physically it is in great shape inside and out. I have not driven it so I cant comment on it mechanically. Basically Im just asking if anyone here has any experience with these trucks. Its an 04 2wd with the 5.4L engine.
If you have no experience with this truck or even an F150 with the same drivetrain please spare you Ford sucks comments.
Thanks!

I've got experience with something similar. I own a Ford Lightning which has similar running gear as the Expedition. The 5.4 in the 04s have the good cylinder heads so you don't have to worry about launching a plug. They are pretty reliable overall as a vehicle. I've never heard of a tranmission failing unless the truck was modded. When you start to mod it there's endless possibilities. If you do go down that road, let me know. I have a lot of experience building F150s for the track.
Take every thing I say with a grain of salt. We have **** loads of these vehicles over here, I am personally tasked with the maintenance on 90+- Ford vehicles 75% are diesel. The engines hold up well, both gas and diesel even in this environment. The transmission transfer cases and rear differential hold up well also. Front differentials and front suspensions suck *****. We can not keep bushings in the control arms, or keep the sway bars connected. And don’t even get me started on the ******* rangers. As bad as this might sound, the Fords hold up a hell of a lot better then the Chevrolet do.
We see alot of them in my shop, no common problems I know of. The only issue I see often is aluminum wheels with Michelin tires. They build up a ton of corrosion. That is all Fords though, not sure why. No big deal though, it can be ground off.
My sister owned a few of these at different points while living in AK, she loved them, they are bulletproof, only thing that sucks is gas mileage, but you don't need me to tell you that.
15K sounds like a great deal I understand, but considering the circumstances, I am sure you can land a much better deal and the dealer knows that, so get out of them as much as you can. Good Luck
