Now drop 400lbs off the GT350. Should help make it even more insane?

This Carbon-Bodied Shelby GT350R Drops Hundreds of Pounds for $127,000

I got a ricer flyby by one of these while I was walking into my building this morning. A+, would listen again.

18psi 07-18-2017 11:31 AM

I also heard one of these scream by in the carpool lane a couple months ago as I turned off the radio, lowered my windows, and enjoyed the breathtaking orchestra of 'Muricuhh.

Bout 10 seconds later a cop also roars past me with his lights on, and I already knew what was gonna happen. 2 exits down as I see him pulled over, I was tempted to offer to drive it home for him so that they wouldn't tow it :D

I guess we'll see. Everyone and their mother now puts out flow formed wheels, it's no longer new or exclusive, so it's tougher competition.
However,
350 owners do tend to have, and spend, a whole lot more money than Miata owners, so I bet y'all can still make money in that market.

Wheel tire combo is about 60 lbs, 30 of which is tire. Crikey

Shudder haha.

You forget I also have C6 Z06 and tow a 42' gooseneck with a Ram 3500 crew cab dually. But yeah, I fit in the Shelby perfectly with the stock Recaros. No floor pan mods!

thejeans 08-04-2017 10:53 AM

thats badass, congrats man. cant wait to see what all you do with the car.

Which do you prefer driving more, or get more enjoyment out of? The chevy or the ford?

Go read his track review.

The GT350 is the gizz of the LORD.

The C6Z is an open diff 1.6 NA.

18psi 08-04-2017 11:40 AM

It's basically a perfect track car right off the showroom floor. Stock tires are really good and surprisingly cheap. Nothing overheats, brakes don't fade. Plenty of power considering it has no cage.

Just the same, it's porky. Rear seat delete kit from Shrader performance drops 30#. OEM 35# battery being replaced by Battery Tender 5# LiFePo4 battery. OEM 10.5/11" wheels with 295/35- 305/35 PS2's will remain as daily. Project 6GR 11/11.5 with 305/30 RS4's for track use.
G-Loc R18/R16 prebed pads ordered, just because. DSC Sports programmable interface for the magneride shocks installed. Waiting for prototype Xida ACE shocks/struts. No plans to do anything power wise, it has plenty. I'll keep my eyes open for any other low hanging fruit to make it lighter though.

The 6UL's we will do for the car will be the dimensionally identical to the factory GT350R (11/11.5"), just 6 lbs lighter each than the OEM 10.5/11"

Emilio, I know I asked earlier why you prefer the GT350, but I'm curious if you've driven the SS 1LE (or if anyone you respect as a driver has) and how the two compare from a trackworthy standpoint.

The 1LE I can get in OK around $40-41k, so the extra $20k for the GT350 I can't justify.

I realize the balance, brakes, etc, may not be as good. I was just curious if you could provide any feedback. In reality, both cars are way above my current skill level. But I love the absurdity of both of them for the price and performance they offer.

emilio700 08-04-2017 08:47 PM

Haven't driven the 1LE but by all accounts it's very good. The common themes published from those that have driven both: 1LE not quite as agile or connected, engine not as exciting. GT350 is a tad faster on track.
Personally, I just don't like the way the Camaro looks. That and I have always been a fan of the old small block, super high revving 5.0L SCCA Trans Am motors.

I have never been a big Mustang fan but..Damn

I agree, the GT350s are pure, unadulterated pure sex.

ridethecliche 08-04-2017 11:10 PM

The front end looks very evo inspired to me tbh

Yah. I read that the primary inspiration for the GT350 was the Evo 10.

Not.

ridethecliche 08-05-2017 12:20 AM

Wait...

Is the entire 'not' thing cool again? I'm so far behind the times that I had to google 'lituation' when I got a party invite the other day...

street's closed pizza boy. find another way home

ridethecliche 08-05-2017 12:34 AM

Apparently if I drink a beer and look at cars evos and gt350's look similar.
