The only thing I go to miataforum for anymore is to see what Mark P has to say....we need to get that NGA over here.

Loki047 10-04-2006 10:29 PM

I know. but I think he enjoys putting those guys in their place. I want him and corky bell to hang out here.

Braineack 10-04-2006 10:42 PM

he posted here this morning. Corky is aware of the site. Stephanie frequents it from time to time.

magnamx-5 10-05-2006 12:39 AM

yeah but we need mark. he has alot of good stuff to say.

miataspeed1point6 10-05-2006 12:47 AM

I hate that place for many reasons. Everytime there is a new debate, everyone comes in and says the origional poster was wrong. But they hardly ever show up again to read the rebuttle. Drives me nuts.

That and I didn't buy azenis, I dont have chrome everywhere and my wheels are .4 oz heavier than the stock ones. The three unforgivable acts. Better grip and lighter wheels help, but they rip you apart if you do otherwise.

Ben 10-05-2006 08:25 AM

Look you just don't get it. Take a deep breath, count to 3, then mount your spare under your trunk. You'll see

bripab007 10-05-2006 09:05 AM

Again, I love this forum, but you guys crack me up with the M.net bashing; you sound like a bunch of young punks rebelling against your parents/authority figures (which might not be to far from the truth).

M.net is still a great place to hang out and talk. There are some diamonds in the rough over there; really innovative, intelligent folks that have "been there, done that" on things most of us hadn't even thought to try. Emilio, Moti, Mark, me (Larry), Y8s, Rich Wilkman, RodH, most of the guys in engine conversions forum, etc. come to mind.

Anywho...

magnamx-5 10-05-2006 09:51 AM

i still like them better than clubraodster. nothing there but mods for looks.

Braineack 10-05-2006 10:26 AM

I usually just try to send the Greddy users over here. Since a typical "why is my car hesitating?" post turns into a debate about clutch slippage and overfueling.

bripab007 10-05-2006 10:32 AM

Hmmm...maybe I'm just becoming immune to the BS responses/posts over there; I don't even notice anymore :D

Braineack 10-05-2006 10:49 AM

Or I debate with magnamx-5 about the PCV system. Oh wait I do that here too.

that is true.

Its tough to stay clean over there.....with all that lube splashing everywhere from all the FM cock strokers. Gotta say I am jealous though. FM could sell these Devils Own kits all day long for MSRP+ $100 like everything else so they gotta be doing something right

I like how the people here are able to think for themselves and willing to try new things instead of having another cookie cutter Miata.

Braineack 10-05-2006 02:09 PM

I first saw "DIY Turbo Kits" and I knew I was in the right place.

yep

Most of those people have really bad taste too.

miataspeed1point6 10-05-2006 06:05 PM

I agree its a great site for information. Whenever I need to fix something I search the site. I would highly recommend it for repair work or general questions. I refuse to post new topics there, as most of the replys are useless filler.

I was asking about the FM rear mounts when I was doing my konis. I searched and searched, but at the time all the info was about bumpstops and adding travel. I needed spring length info, but all I got was "do a search" or "you should buy bilsteins" then they would argue about the bilsteins and cost of revalving and what not. Meanwhile my question went unanswered. 6 out of the 9 topics I started went that way. Now months later when I search the questions have been asked 50 or so times and have been answered. Annoying.

I like this site because when I search, it works. And when someone asks a question which has been beaten to death, people here are still helpfull.

While I do like this site better, I'd have to agree that there are quite a few knowledgable people over at m.net who have either the experience/knowledge/expertise to really give some great info/data/facts.

Like the people mentioned above and more like Shaikh (with his suspension spreadsheet), Jeff Anderson (with his radio/electronics stuff), and bwob (who rarely posts anymore, but was on the original miata design team at Mazda). Problem is that there are too few fact/info/data givers and too many people who give out their opinion as fact....and as we all know opinions are like a-holes....

miata.net is the best forum ever*

Philip 10-06-2006 12:32 AM

:yippee:

magnamx-5 10-06-2006 12:37 AM

and that is all that matters i bet Gary is jeulous of us. this forum is alot more informal more like abunch of gear heads sitting around the garage trying to bench race and build the best miata possible. i still say and use on every vehicle i have ot date that pcv's are crapp. VTA babby you know you wanna.;) (it realy doesn't matter to me so long as it works it is more about preference for simplicity and stubborness than function. if i am one thing i am deffinetly stubborn.

bripab007 10-06-2006 09:08 AM

Yeah, you are a stubborn-ass bitch.:bigtu:

Braineack 10-06-2006 09:41 AM

I wouldn't give a shit how shitty & uptight my forum was if I made at least $5375 a month from sponsors.

43 venders x $125 a month (basic advertising package)

FM and TireRack pay additionally to sponsor specific sections.

Philip 10-06-2006 11:21 AM

you're forgetting the 10% made from classifieds as well.

chuckerants 10-06-2006 01:48 PM

I help run a non-car related BB and we are a completely commercial free and member supported. We do not have sponsors or any of the bullshit that comes with it.

M.Net with its "sponsors" means that I can't call that a sponsor is a thief and a liar. - which I got a few days time out for. Gary told me that it is between me and that sponsor even though he accepts money from them.

The Mods at M.Net also can't (supposedly) get involved in any real debates, but they still do. If I was a Mod and I couldn't publicly say that a sponsor or anyone else was ripping people off, I'd quit in a hearbeat - which I told a Mod in a PM.

I don't know this BB well enough to say it's better than any other, but M.Net definitely has its faults.

Did they lower the price? I thought it was $175 a month for the banners.:eek5:

Lube splashing baahhaha! I like that forum for searching about stuff and to see what people are up to in the power forums, but the other sections are dead to me. They have a lot of of cool guys over there, and that keeps me reading. I have all their banners add blocked and the such hahah . :bigtu: Also I hate their greddy bashing overthere. Plus no kill stories? Fuck that sucks that i cant post about the time I fucking OWNED this mini van man! It was sikkkk.

AGREED. Everytime i post there, for instance a question about tie rods, i get responses like "tie rods cant bend" "why would you want that, its not legal for STS2" or responses that have nothing to do with what i asked and just tell me that im wrong for asking. Ocaisionally i get what im looking for but i have to search through pages of filler/rambling.

miatamad 10-08-2006 11:08 PM

I guess you just have to get the best from either forum. I go to both and each is helpful in its own way. Must admit tho' - this is the only one that makes me snort coffee over my keyboard with some of the replies. Lube splashing indeed.

magnamx-5 10-09-2006 12:07 AM

yes but make sure that the lube is aproved to let you run in sm2 class and raise your tire pressure.

You gotta be careful with lube, too much and it will increase unsprung weight and effect roll couple- which is a bad thing boys and girls. :inout:

magnamx-5 10-09-2006 12:50 AM

thanks i almost forgot oil will last 5K miles if it is synthetic never mind the lifter tick it is normal.

Lifter tick is good. It lets you know your engine is running.

Yes but a luggage rack will balance the unsprung weight and make it 50/50 weight distribution again.

Ah you made a simple mistake, you didnt take into account my Style bar. That effects the balance but thats ok, it makes me look cool. Did you guys see my katskinz leather seat covers? They are only like 10000 dollars!

A lot of the guys over there dont care to make their miata fast I guess. Have you ever paid any attention to the "miata of the month" on the front miata.net page? They are all like bone stock cars or some hideous looking POS. I dont get it.

Ya some of the larger miatameets in CA are mostly just freshly washed/waxed bone stock cars. I hate when mags like sport compact car have sections like "clean car of the month" and show a 06 sti that is bone stock, just freshly waxed. Why not show a clean 15 year old car instead of a car that just came off the lot?

100% agree! I allways thought it odd that the guy with a brand new car gets clean car of the month... seems like a 86 rx7 or a 510 would deserve it more.

miata of the month is cool when its like a spec miata or some other racing car, or even a poorly styled car but lots of hands on work, but the guy who bought it brand new in 89 and kept it doesnt really seem like that big of an accomplishment to me.

Well I suggest you get a wood grain dash kit to offset the katskinz seat covers to better balance the 10000 dollars so it will compliment the 13'' panasports when you autocross next week.

Hey - this months miata of the month has stripes AND flames on it. Its gotta be really fast :bowrofl:

Silver car, tan roof and bright orange wheels - :yippee:

penpen989 10-11-2006 09:49 PM

seriously that miata of the month with the stripes and flames is TERRIBLE. i dont understand it, theres so many badass miatas around and they pick that rice ball.

I appreciate that - and I guess I shouldnt bag his car. However with so many really neat Miatas out there (regardless of their style -show and shine, track, whatever) - they can find beter examples that something with stickers on it.

Slammered 10-11-2006 10:11 PM

i was kinda thinking the same thing when i saw the miata of the month... well i guess they cant always put really clean ones on there, then they would get boring

HELL NO!!! I've sold tons of shit on there to helpless fools and NEVER paid the damn 10% or whatever fee. Its retarded as hell.

Fritch 10-12-2006 02:29 AM

OH and if you have anything larger than 15" wheels you get slammed for it (I remember getting flamed for the 17's all the time) and anything that isn't pre-fucking-engineered or approved by Mazda is a waste of time and money

what a bunch of cock faces

bripab007 10-12-2006 08:52 AM

Fritch, I love ya and all, man, but 17's on a Miata do look retarded...

Sorry to break it to ya, bro :gay:

I dont think 17's on a miata look retarded at all. I run 17's on my miata and I get compliments on the look at all times. As far as functionality, the rims are 17 lbs each.

Braineack 10-12-2006 09:34 AM

I think it's more relative to how jacked up the particular miata is sitting.

bripab007 10-12-2006 10:23 AM

Well, yeah, having the 4x4 look AND 17" wheels certainly does make things worse.

But, the Miata has a very short body, when viewed in profile. It just doesn't lend itself to tall wheels; they make it look all out of proportion and "catty-wompuss." In fact, the 240SX is another car like this. It's got a very slim silhouette that looks like a stagecoach with 17" or greater wheels.

Braineack 10-12-2006 10:26 AM

well, he's a cock's face. I think it still applies. And this was the first thing I found when I googled cockface, it mad me laugh, and I think it got the job done.

it this better?

Fritch 10-12-2006 12:34 PM

lmao man I don't even have the 17's anymore, sold them after bending one on the shitty Tampa roads and have the stock 15's back for now until I come up with something else.

bripab007 10-12-2006 12:49 PM

That reminds me, next time I go to St. Pete to visit some buddies of mine, we should meet up somewhere. I was actually down in the Palm Harbor (isn't that where you are?) area for a friend's bachelor party not too terribly long ago.
