Forza + Fanatec... freaking wow.

Overall it's amazing... the force feedback is dead on. As much as torque steer sucks, I felt a sense of awesomeness actually feeling it in a video game. I only took a few laps around in an integra so can't wait to try out a few more cars. The stand folds up for easy storage too. Although it's pretty heavy, which is good though since it holds up well to quick steering maneuvers. I do however need to work on a better mounting option for the pedals as the brake pedal is stiff and moves the platform a bit.

Eventually I will use my original Miata seat, but it's a few hundred miles away from me right now. The old crappy chair will have to do for now.

Excuse my ignorance, but is this for the PC, 360, or PS3?

I have a Logitech G27 wheel which im aching to use with GT5. GT5P will suffice for a while, but it gets boring with only a few tracks to actually run on.

I dont have a nice set up to mount my wheel at this moment, but I have bought some square tubing which will be used to build a cockpit for the wheel.

Basically, im going to be measuring the distance of the pedals, seat, center console, and the steering wheel, then just build it in according to how the miata sits. Still gotta find a seat though, and find time to weld all those tubes up.

I use it for the 360 (Forza). But it is compatible with PC and PS3, unlike the Logitech one. I've actually used the logitech one as well and not nearly impressed as I am with this one.



Yea my setup is noob compared to the one above. I do want to make a custom setup like that eventually, but my home is not big enough atm.

Soo I bought a Miata today finally, put my mods plus a few extras and wow it's pretty awesome. Can't wait to race it!

Nice stuff. I have the Logitech G25 setup which I use for GTR2 and for iRacing. I'm not into racing in circles at all, but iRacing's simulation of Laguna Seca is simply awesome. Every track they do is immensely detailed.

I've had my Fanatech for forever now. It really is the best if you want to play all systems.

I'm not a huge fan of the force feedback in Forza 3 compared to Forza 2. It seems too dull and unexciting.

Have you tried any of the PC games. I've been doodling around with PC simulator trials for awhile now. Which ones do yall like?

I paid $350 shipped for mine, had to wait a few months because it was a preorder. Some people waited over a year.


Edit: Just the steering wheel, shifter and pedals. No Wheel stand.

Mine are PC only. I have GTR2, iRacing, and rFactor. Haven't fired up rFactor in a while, though.

iRacing is the best, IMO, but it's also fairly expensive. It's a subscription model, and you have to pay to unlock tracks and cars. Annual cost for me is less than one track day, so if you look at it that way, it's not expensive at all. Simulation aspects seem dead-on.

GTR2 and the other simulators in this family are pretty good. I have struggled with getting the settings right to make the cars behave as I think they should - ie, to properly replicate power-on push and power-off oversteer in turns. But, GTR2 has all of the cool European tracks, such as Spa, that I will never be able to drive in real life.

You can spend hours noodling with ride heights, damper settings, wing setting, etc etc with these.


There is a new one which may be a viable alternative to iRacing - http://www.real-timeracing.com. I haven't made it into the beta yet, so haven't actually been able to see how it drives. But it will allow you to race against replays of actual drivers on the course. Not a saved hotlap of a virtual driver, but a saved lap of an actual human in a car on that track. They also claim to be able to do that live - have virtual drivers competing against physical cars, which will be interesting. The ability to compare lines to an actual car on the track, though, is what interests me most.

I've been using the G25 for LiveForSpeed for a couple of years. Hands down the best racing sim out there. Only a few 'real' cars, no real tracks but I don't care. iRacing, Forza, GTR, rFactor can suck my nuts. It's close, but I just don't feel connected to the cars, even after fiddling with controller settings.

Ah, cool. I had forgotten about LFS. Checked it out when it was under development, then forgot about it. I'll download that and give it a try again.
