I've heard theories about the amount of water absorbed by the plant correlates to the heat of the pepper. Hotter peppers from a dry summer.
I've also heard that the smaller peppers are hotter.
The truth is you just never know until you bite into it. Same plant can give a big range of heat.
We've had good luck with canning peppers. Letting them marinate together seems to unify the heat level a little.
I do like Serranos more than Jalepenos. I like to cut the top off and grill them standing up with some cheese inside.
Made a simple plate at work by bending some aluminum and knocking some holes in it.
Just about everything from the garden tastes better grilled.

New year new post... Yeah I get it, I'm behind. Because Michigan. Also kind of forced to try something new since halfwit decided to close down the greenhouses and it will be a major **** show when they open back up. Starting from seed, which I never do.
First sprouts this morning.

I'm too lazy to take any other pictures but I've got about 10 carolina reaper plants going, and this one seems to be doing the best. i have no idea what im doing or if reapers will survive in california. Also, some little bastard seems to be snacking on the leaves.
Carolina reapers actually provide some good flavor if you can manage the heat. I dried up some reapers to make flakes for pizza and such. Damn tasty.
I did eat a whole pepper once, for dick swinging purposes. would not recommend.
we also have habaneros going, some ghost peppers, onions, cilantro, etc etc. Everything else in the garden is the wifes doing, I'm the only one invested in the peppers here. We pickled some habaneros last year and they were a damn good snack. Hoping to pickle some ghosts and reapers and see how they turn out.

I worked in 10-10-10 fert into my 40x20 yard in early April and tilled the bed. I plan to lay a 30x20 drip irrigation system this weekend and we are planting 10 30ft rows of a triplesweet corn hybrid. Going to be a first try with drip irrigation, excited to see what my new garden is going to turn out.

Anyone have input how jalapenos, bell peppers, and tabasco peppers do in buckets? I planted my 4x8 yesterday and couldn't find any of these plants in stock local. Considering taking a chance and ordering some but i am out of space with my 4x8, but do have a bunch of extra soil and a plethora of 5 gallon buckets.

So... I tried squash. Not exactly sure how to keep weeds / grass down. I think next year I will lay a bed of 1 year (last year's) leaves to help. 50% of the beans did good... I guess I expected a bigger yield, been pretty small for how many plants I put in. Tomatoes doing fantastic as always. Them bad boys are about 8' tall. I'm so happy because most of this garden this year is from seed. Next year I'm going to step up my seed game. Incubation and what not.

March 25th
April 2nd.
Today.
Cat can't wait...
I've got the beans, some of which are already outside, which is probably a mistake seeing as it's still getting below freezing here. 2 types of tomato, 3 types of pepper(jalapeno, chili, bell), 2 types of radish. Radish is going in this weekend for sure, they can handle the cold. Then it's front garden flowers, beats, onion, shallot, and maybe some lettuce that i'll keep in the tent all summer. I think this tent is technically a "stacker" so i can somehow add a second level to it. We'll see.
I also got a new action camera and took a 3 or 4 day time lapse of the beans popping up. You can see where we lost power for about 10 minutes(10 frames) around the 50 second mark.
