Technically alexandria is still 10 miles south of me, but yes it still would have been: smarter & efficient, but how can we expect a company to operate like that...oh wait cause their stiffest competition is UPS and we all know what a joke UPS is.
UPS took back an item from me for an insurance claim, then lost it, then claimed it was never picked up even though I presented them with the pick up ticket. I spent over a year of hassling them to no avail. It was just a perpetual "we have no record of anything" shenanigan.

Once UPS couldnt deliver to me, so I called and was going to pick it up at the wharehouse...when I got there, they forgot to pull the item from the truck and it was locked up and they didnt have it when i came. The next day instead of delivering it, they called and said you can pick up the package now.
it could be worse... I ordered some parts for work (UPS Red Early AM, next day by 8am shipping). The parts went from GA to FL to CA to DC to NJ to AR and then finally to TX. Got the parts after 2 weeks.

Not that I'm defending FedEx. They screwed up by not sending your package to Alexandria in the first place but I'm sure they did not have a driver going from Winchester to Arlington. They had to send it back to Hagerstown to get it to Alexandria where there was a route to Arlington.

Here's the thing though....you're a shipping company, you've been in business for years, and you can't seem to ever get it right.
I paid for 2 day shipping on my boomslang and it's coming a week later. And I always had such good experience with FedEx when ordering computer parts. Still better than UPS. Hell, I'll use USPS before UPS.

i use usps all the time now. even though the goverment is highly inefficient, they seem to do a bit better with packages than ups and fedex....which is the silliest thing you can possibly think of. provate companies sucking worse than the goverment... ha.
if DHL had more retial stores, they beat them all. They have the best rates. but then they do DHL "at home" where they will deliver the pacakge to your local USPS, and then USPS will finish the home delievery...takes an extra few days....which is pointless.
