Stock brakes? I'm impressed!
On my commute home from work yesterday I almost added a black bear to my road kill list. I had to slam on my brakes at 75mph down to near stop fairly quickly. I'm just glad he didn't stop and decide to go all black bear on my car with the windows down and only a soft top. I was in 5th gear and had both hands on the steering wheel so he could of taken some nice shots at me before I got in gear to take off. As he was sprinting across the interstate his shoulders were over my hood so he was a nice sized bear. That would of made a mess!
Both of my previous cars, a 04 Lancer and 08 Mazda3 took out a deer within 1 year of ownership. I hope to avoid that statistic with this one.

Black bear are ******* stupid. When I was driving the 26' Penske truck moving out here from the west coast, somewhere in Colorado one ran in front of me. Was probably a little over 100 lbs, young one. As it ran into the highway I puckered up and hit the brakes and saw it disappear under the hood line of the truck. I figured it was a certain grease spot, but in my rear view mirror I saw the lucky bastard made it unscathed. Probably came within a foot or two of getting hit at ~65 mph.

On the street, stock pads (even in the 1.6 size) are just fine. More than adequate for going up one side of Palomar Mountain and down the other, alternating between WOT and brakes the whole way.
