But not worrying about any paternity tests is totally worth it.

I would have killed that guy. There is a difference between a vasectomy and a neuter.

So, how did it work getting snipped through TRICARE? That's what I'm most curious about.

Yeah, after I let him know in no uncertain terms that I could feel EVERYTHING, he started sweating visibly and handed the controls back over to the staff doctor. It was almost worth it given that there was a female administrative type in there at the same time who would not look me in the eye no matter what I said. I guess having my junk laid out in the open was too much for her.

Piece of cake.

I told my Flight Surgeon I was interested. He put the referral in. Couple days later I got a letter in the mail saying which doctor in town to call. Called him, made a consult for later in the week. Consult took about 10 minutes... made an appt for procedure for about 3 weeks down the road to coincide with my schedule. Done and done.

But... here at Naval Base Ventura County, they're understaffed and overleaded. A lot of stuff gets farmed out to Docs in town. If I'd had the surgery at the clinic or mainside hospital, probably a bit more pain. In the end, the only paperwork I filled out was the standard form at the doc's office... no Tricare paperwork. NOW... if I was a woman and my husbad was my dependent and he wanted it... SHIT! I'd do it myself in the garage and save the hassle. A handle of Sailor Jerry and a box knife.

It might also be a little different if you live near a major Navy presence... San Diego/Norfolk, etc... Then you're at one of the major hospitals like Balboa or Portsmouth. I have no experience with those places... but most of my friends who've chosen to have babies there say it's no sweat... just another big building with people in white coats.

BUT TAKE THIS ADVICE!!!
There is no system on this round Earth more fucked up than a Navy pharmacy. Don't go to one... don't do it. Go to Target for fucks sake.

^^ Hey man, our pharmacy was the shit. I was a Marine, but it was ran by Navy cats and I always rolling in there in uniform clicking the little button and getting first in line. Plus, I tried getting my stuff off base and they gave me some BS that tricare didn't cover it even though I was given the script from BAS.

Thanks Sam. I'd be going through Army facilities... which aren't really any better. ;)
