1/4-20 vs M6-1.00

FIGHT!

1/4-20 means that replacement hardware will be easier to find in a pinch, but you'll have to carry standard tools with your metric car. That's a deal breaker for me. I'll go out of my way to find oddball hardware that allows me to carry fewer tools to the track and keep a few pieces of the weird hardware in a marked bag in my hardware bin, rather than use easy hardware, and have to carry more tools.

just about every home store has metric nuts and bolts. m6-1.00 it is.

I accidentally bought 400 m6-1.00 when trying to buy 4. So m6 for me.

Bought the 20 gal Parts Washer for $99 and got a free lifetime warranty. So far it seems to be WIN.

Not HF, but cheap:
I've used this thing a fair amount on the Exocet/Catfish. The handle for threading/unthreading the mandrel comes off occasionally, but it's easy to fix and doesn't ruin the rivnut. M6x1 is total win, as it matches everything else on the car.

Does that one work is tight spaces. Or does the handle have to go full horizontal on both sides to pull it through.

i've gotten good use out of these. loud as hell, but it will do some things that none of my other tools will do. i tried the bi-metal blade and it's just as fast as a zizz wheel on sheet metal, but without all the sparks and having to replace the zizz disks. we used it to trim down the ridges
on the lfx intake (for hood clearance) and removing some metal to accommodate the lfx's ecu. works a treat for that. i couldn't have
gotten a zizz wheel in there....

i only got 200 (but it was intentional). i thought this was a good deal, so go ahead and break my heart and tell me you got 400 for fi-dollar.

Aidan, the threads on the mandrel of the rivnut tool are long enough that it can be used with the handles fully open or around 45* (90 included).

I actually find it's easier to use if the nut is set such that the handles are only open 45* and then run the mandrel down more if the nut needs to be tighter. When the handles are fully open it's hard to hold the nut engaged and pull the handles together.

I never considered using a vavuzala for anything other than cutting rubber snakes off of tires.

Not harbor freight, but cheap calipers anyway. General calipers you can get at lowes.
I put them head to head against the Mitutoyos I use at work.
They measured exactly the same out to 3" on my calibrated gauge block.
They aren't as smooth as the Mitutoyo caliper, but at least they are accurate.
Ironically, they don't fit worth a damn in the box they come in, but they fit perfectly in the Mitutoyo box.

Are they absolute?

Anyone try out the 15,000 BTU Tank Top Propane Heater from HF? I am finally going to break down and get one due it being colder then usual out right now.

Judging by the presence of a "Zero" button on the lower one, and the word "Absolute" printed on the top one, I'd say yes and no.

The Mitutoyos?
Yes, they are.
The ZERO/ABS key allows the display to be Zero-Set at any slider position along the scale for incremental comparison measurements.
The switch will also allow return to the absolute (ABS) coordinate and display of the true position from the origin point.

I received one of those General calipers as a christmas gift in 2014. I don't have anything better to compare them to but i have also been quite pleased with them. They replaced my el-cheapo ebay calipers that i dropped and broke.
