WIN - for removing stubborn axle!!! I see ZX-Tex tried one of the regular kind. This is nice because there is no twisting torque.

FAIL - to me for mushrooming the end of one of my MSM axles that you I don't think you can buy before I went and bought this. Luckily I think I can file/grind it down a bit and get the nut on.

Joe, does your NB have the front lip at the bottom of the nose and are you at the stock ride height?

Without the lip on my NB I can hit the front subframe every time with the HF 1.5. With the lip I have to start by driving up on a scrap of 2x4 that I keep with my jack for just this purpose. I'm also well below stock ride height

No lip, stock height.

The aluminum jack is on sale right now, and I'm going to pick one up this weekend along with a pair of stands and a new breaker bar. I finally got my new Stanley tool cart home, and am quite impressed with it for the price.

Need to find a sporting goods store where I can buy a few hockey pucks as well. Shouldn't be hard to come by in Chicago.

Wait, is there one of those 20% off coupons that works with the purchase of a jack? I thought the fine print always excluded their floor jacks.

All of the percentage off coupons don't work with jacks or air compressors. They stopped that **** years ago.

That's what I've always understood as well. Although, looking around just now, I did see this one (on Monk's link) which may be somewhat different:

I don't see the name "Pittsburgh" listed there.

That one may be good then. I don't need a jack or compressor at this moment though, so it is hard for me to test it.

They all mushroom the end, so that can't be considered a fail.

Anyway, i just bought the 10 ton ebay version for work.

@Mobius try one of those for your axle.

Anybody have any experience with cheap helicoil kits? Seems too good to be true.

I bet that let go with a bang. I was doing a wheel bearing on a Kia and couldn't get the axle out. I pulled the whole spindle and axle and used the 20T press. Sketchy...I admit I jumped a bit when it popped loose with a loud bang.

Amazon had these connector pin tools on sale half price a while back and they absolutely kick a$$. Worth the standard $20 premium IMO if you ever move connector pins around. Beats a dental pick hands down.

Just chop up the handle if it doesn't fit.
So I finally got all the parts together. Scored the jack for $55 on sale, and threw in a set of aluminum stands as well.

They all fit perfectly into the bottom drawer of the toolchest. The jack handle easily separates into two pieces (spring-loaded button) and is also easy to install and remove on the body of the jack (one thumbscrew).

Haven't lifted a car with it yet, but thus far it meets my rather arcane requirements for portability. #CondoLife

Thanks for the input, all.

did you also independently determine the cheater bar aspect?
